STW Northern Chapte...

[Closed] STW Northern Chapter ride - 1st Nov - Kirkby Stephen . . . interested?

At the end of the Ogden Water ride much discussion took place about where the next one would be which I think is where the confusion occurred as to where we were going.

The next ride will be from Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria - The final route will be decided the week before depending how kind the weather is over the next few weeks.
It WILL have hills, it WILL take all day 🙄
There is a big car park in the town HEREand the post code for the town centre is CA17 4QS. As the clocks will have changed by then I think we will stick with Ton's 9.00 meet for a 9.30 start. Mileage will be the usual 25.

So boys and girls who wants to come and play?

Probably need lights for the end of this one DeeJay.

Can I be in the group that decides spending all afternoon at the cafe drinking, eating and oggling totty this time?

I seemed to find myself on the one with big hills and pain last Sunday.

Yeah I'm in for this one, not been biking up round there for years so it'll be good to get back up there 😀

Gonna be an early start!

Sorry Chucky, but membership of the coffee quaffing, bottom ogling club is strictly by invite only. You have to at the very least prove beyond any reasonable doubt your complete ineptitude at following a group of 40+ bikers. Sadly, I seem to have met the entry level with honors.

I will most certainly be there. I love this part of the country. Not sure if I will be on my own or some of my crowd will actually decide to join us this time.

It's not me they should be worried about, it's Grant threatening to take a mankini because the Villa has a pool that's got me concerned.

I'll make sure that we vet the photos carefully before posting, I know how sensitive and easily offended the STW massive are.

Ah... the pennies just dropped.... Kirkby STEPHEN... for some reason known only to myself, I was thinking it was Kirkby LONSDALE. Doh.

Brilliant chippy in Kirkby Stephen and a couple of good real ale pubs.

Right, I've pushed the boat out for this one! Due to the distance from mine I've booked the Saturday night in Kirkby Stephen at the Black Bull, dunno what it's like but it was cheap and central.

So I'll be fuelled by a full english on the Sunday 🙂

I got a single room , for £30 through laterooms.com, doubles were £55 I think.

More the merrier, then I get drinking buddy's on a saturday night away, and maybe even some of these fabled waitresses in short skirts.

where is DeeJay with the plan

DON'T PANIC!

All in hand - having a test ride on Sunday to finalise which bits we are doing and so that all the Darlo crowd know the route. I will post up a roll call thread Mon night to remind everyone of times and location and get an idea of numbers - looks to be 25-30ish from the replies to this thread - now if someone has a direct line to a weather fairy and can book us a good day we will be sorted.

Bombadillo - the pace is distinctly relaxed on these rides - if you are riding regularly you should be fine but as its a large group they do tend to take all day

Do not claim to be pretty fit on a DeeJAY ride ...school boy error. He will now start adding killer climbs ,just to laugh at us all. The race to be last is more competitive that the race to be first.
