Following on from other threads thought I would create a new one for folks to organise social and group rides in the NE area, Hamsterley or Dalby days, moorland hacks, local woods rides, off piste days, roadie epics, gravel adventures and anything in between.
What's everybody's Bank Holiday Monday plans? Guess we'd best start there 🙂
This weekend I will be mainly* riding** the naughty
*well compared with other bike related shenanigans.
**my bike and I will be moving, ideally in the same direction and at the same time, I may or may not be on board however.
I'm away this weekend. But I like the idea. Hammers, Beamish wood, Chopwell, even Dalby are my local haunts.
Bottom end of North Yorkshire here. Sick of riding on my own/riding buddies flaking out/impossible to herd together. Consider me interested.
Not long moved up to Newcastle, and haven't managed to find a good group yet. Often go north to Scotland for rides, not really explored much in North Yorkshire yet. Would be very interested to see where this goes.
I'm away this weekend but deffo keen for something like this in the future - I'm just outside of Durham so centrally located
It sounds like a dalby or hamsterley day out could be on the cards then initially,
For anyone local to the Teesside area I've just found out Guisboroughs BikeScene are doing everyone welcome group rides once a month on friday nights with a stop off at a local brewery afterwards also
I'll be up for joining as and when I can. Local riding buddies have petered out and the ones I do still keep in touch with lives miles away. Not only that I really need to be someone who rides bikes rather than a fat bloke that just has bikes in the shed. This weekend will be too short notice but keep me in the loop for future rides out.
I'm in Sunderland so within easy reach of Hamsterley etc, much the same as hot_fiat as I think he's not far away. Plus I can always get on the C2C route which while not being hilly or techy is at last getting some miles done.
Chopwell is my local and I love it, Hammers is on the way home from work..not been there for ages though.
Away up to Golfie tonight for a day or 2 in the van.

NE and you don't include Northumberland. Bloody southerners. 😉
Anyway, Chopwell is within easy reach for me, Hamsters too. The moors, pennines, cheviots, etc....
Away this weekend but could do with some new people to ride with as a heavy crash at the end of May has made me realise riding on my own everytime isn't always the best idea.
There's a regular Thursday night ride in Chopwell. 1930 to ride 1945 if anytime fancies it
Not likely to make many or any rides soon but definitely recommend Guisborough Brewery for a post ride pint. Robin brews really good beer and is generally open afternoon to early evening Fridays and Saturdays. Mainly outside seating so lots of space for bikes. Also often local bands and occasional food trucks. Opening times on the website:

Guisborough is my local riding spot and I had no idea about the goings on at the brewery, great shout Slowol!
Guisborough isn’t the best when it’s wet, we tend to ride Hamsterley when its been p!ssing down, but Guisbro’s better than Hammers in good conditions (imo).
@augustuswindsock guis used to be my local going back some but had been away from bikes for a few year and then last time I went up it was unrecognisable, went clapping down a few trails I used to know well and had a few nippy bum moments as they'd changed so much
Have heard the best stuff is over cooks way now?
Hammers is my local spot, aswell as moorland wandering in Teesdale. Would love to meet up with more like minded folk. Can't Do this weekend or next (work, bah...), but can try and meet up in a few weeks time!
eatmorepizza, yes, there’s some good trails towards Cook’s, but there’s still plenty good stuff in the Guisborough Wood, although forestry have been busy and decimated some of the trails, Les’s 3’s gone for instance.
