Much the same as S8tannorms splendiforous trek through snow, ice, avalanches, rivers, past rabid bears and diesel planes in proper skies, just to get away from the in-laws and sleep in the woods with a load of other people you cant stand on this forum!
What could be better?

29th/30th December in Abergavenny, lunch time meet, ride out, sleep on the hills, ride back then scoff brekkie.

But you owe me one so I'm scared you may loose me somewhere 🙂

Where are all the STW hardcore?

Strange how they can all talk a good trip and moan about missing out but give 'em another chance and they all run off and hide. 🙄

In Yorkshire chaps, was thinking about a pretty heavy going run in Feb/March though.

Set off from Aberdyfi, up over Happy Valley, over to Abergynolwyn, pint, then up Cadair to bothy at top.

I could well be up for that Tiger ... or most things that help justify the amount of gear I buy really 😉

It has indeed but apart from a little look I've not taken it out of the box yet ... I'd only start to build it up 😉

Stu and I will be doing something at the beginning of march like we did earlier this year, ie trans cambrian, if he's free.
I'll be in Aberdyfi at some point too.

Rode yesterday in Talybont Forest - was very hard going. 27 miles in about 4 hours. Snow is still very powdery where it hasn't been packed down by feet/ sheep/ vehicles. This was half way up five mile climb, about 3 miles in - very hard work indeed:

However, according to this, it'll probably all be gone by the 28th December anyway.

Righto then,

Meet: Waitrose, Abergavenny.

Time: Noon 29th - Noon 30th December.

Object: To ride for 3-4 hours then bivi at a secret location in the Black Mountains.
Following morning return to Waitrose for a nice hot brew and breakfast around 11am.

If anybody else is sick of their in-laws like I am, your more than welcome to join us.
Temperatures are predicted to stay above 4 deg C so a lot warmer than the first trip at the beginning of the month.

All challengers to my culinary title welcomed!

See you there!

Just two hardy souls set off from Abergavenny one mild december day, out of town, to the country, up hill and down dale.
Well, a bit more up than down.

[img] [/img]
Past the frozen Gwryne Fawr reservoir
[img] [/img]
Upto the tiniest bothy in the world/wales/maybe
[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]
Bloody good job we didn't stay there as we met two other lads on their way up and we heard another 2?/3? voices heading that way just as darkness was falling.

Campsite was made during darkness so i'll show you the fire
[img] [/img]
Breakfast from bed
[img] [/img]
Waiting for a brew
[img] [/img]
Our camp from up high

Then a blast downhill back to Waitrose and a fried breakfast, what could be better?

It's a hennessey hammock hex tarp with a continuous ridge line from whoopie slings in the US.

will let you know about March, could be a good time to aim to minimise my bivi kit to as near in size as you lot and not bring the gear to support a platoon 😯

Anyone know of any good deals in the sales on Ti pots/mugs etc

A fairly decent combo to get you started on the ultra lite geekness quest.
