Much the same as S8tannorms splendiforous trek through snow, ice, avalanches, rivers, past rabid bears and diesel planes in proper skies, just to get away from the in-laws and sleep in the woods with a load of other people you cant stand on this forum!
What could be better?
29th/30th December in Abergavenny, lunch time meet, ride out, sleep on the hills, ride back then scoff brekkie.

Would i do something like that to you tollah? 😈
Do us all a favour and see if you can loose Tollah will you.
😉
Chortle Chortle.
we can have a whip round for you flatfish if there is no trace of the body left
Yep I'll give a few quid towards that.
might need to call green peace in for a job of this size though 😛
Schools out then I see.
How about we all pitch in digging the hole?
Schools out then I see
earlies this week. can you tell
All intrested parties make yourself known below
Oh, go on then... 😉
I'll recce a decent bivvy spot this weekend.
I need to sort out our Christmas/New Year plans first - we are going to N Wales for Christmas but I don't think we were planning to get back until the 30th - I think the best I can do atm is a maybe
trickydisco - I'll just have my walking kit in N Wales at Christmas otherwise I'd have been up for Snowdon
Where are all the STW hardcore?
Strange how they can all talk a good trip and moan about missing out but give 'em another chance and they all run off and hide. 🙄
Yay, more tarp room for me then 😀
Where are all the STW hardcore?
Scared of bears, obviously...
In Yorkshire chaps, was thinking about a pretty heavy going run in Feb/March though.
Set off from Aberdyfi, up over Happy Valley, over to Abergynolwyn, pint, then up Cadair to bothy at top.
I could well be up for that Tiger ... or most things that help justify the amount of gear I buy really 😉
help justify the amount of gear I buy
Has your new frame turned up yet?
It has indeed but apart from a little look I've not taken it out of the box yet ... I'd only start to build it up 😉
was thinking about a pretty heavy going run in Feb/March though
Stu and I will be doing something at the beginning of march like we did earlier this year, ie trans cambrian, if he's free.
I'll be in Aberdyfi at some point too.
Working 🙁
oooooooo maybe depends on weather as supposed to be in Aberdeen then but if we don't make it I maybe able to attend especially as it's my families home town.
Will definately be skinning my kit back to the bear minimum for sure.
Mended your pannier yet Valleydaddy? 😉
🙁 I'll be in France. Have a good one.
There's a good layer of snow here in Brecon now, and more on the way...
Will be an interesting trip for sure 😉
We've had 10" so far and it's still a white out 😯
no not yet Stuart forgot about it to be honest will get a patch kit and get it sorted. 😀
All this extra snow and i can't believe we've got no more takers!!!
Are you all men/women or mice?
no just frozen in my big orange satsuma coat buried in a snow hole in the garden 😯
Rode yesterday in Talybont Forest - was very hard going. 27 miles in about 4 hours. Snow is still very powdery where it hasn't been packed down by feet/ sheep/ vehicles. This was half way up five mile climb, about 3 miles in - very hard work indeed:

However, according to this, it'll probably all be gone by the 28th December anyway.
I'll be there Taylor, just remember I haven't ridden for a while so you'll have to be gentle with me!
Righto then,
Meet: Waitrose, Abergavenny.
Time: Noon 29th - Noon 30th December.
Object: To ride for 3-4 hours then bivi at a secret location in the Black Mountains.
Following morning return to Waitrose for a nice hot brew and breakfast around 11am.
If anybody else is sick of their in-laws like I am, your more than welcome to join us.
Temperatures are predicted to stay above 4 deg C so a lot warmer than the first trip at the beginning of the month.
All challengers to my culinary title welcomed!
See you there!
Have fun!
Still at the in-laws in N Wales I'm afraid - have a good one
Just two hardy souls set off from Abergavenny one mild december day, out of town, to the country, up hill and down dale.
Well, a bit more up than down.

Can't do late feb but have a trip earmarked for the 18/19/20 March from Machynlleth to ????? if anybodys intrested.
Flatfish - up for that but will have to confirm dates with the Mrs
Looks a good trip.
What tarp is that Taylor? Might be in market for one.
Already booked for week commencing 18th March unfortunately.
It's a hennessey hammock hex tarp with a continuous ridge line from whoopie slings in the US.
Cheers Taylor. Considering making my own, stumbled across a pattern but should it all go wrong may need to buy something.
yeah good stuff that!!
Nice up there hellish as a climb tho good times
looks like you had a good time, well jealous was up in Aberdeen bored off my nips with the in-laws 🙁
will let you know about March, could be a good time to aim to minimise my bivi kit to as near in size as you lot and not bring the gear to support a platoon 😯
Anyone know of any good deals in the sales on Ti pots/mugs etc
A fairly decent combo to get you started on the ultra lite geekness quest.

ValleyDaddy:
On the last trip I had one of these, for the money you can't beat it.
