I think I'm up for this. Coming over from Manchester. Not been out in the wilds since finishing the Great Divide this summer. Should sleep much better without the FEAR of bears and mountain lions dragging me out into the night!

I might try to persuade the wife too!!

I'm sure I saw a big black cat like thing the last time I did the Climachx trail at night showing up against the snow - scared the bibs off me 😉

Lol, I'll do my very best not to loose anyone although this time if anyone does get lost it won't be anything to do with me. I will however buy Flatfish a beer or at the very least assuming there are no pubs offer a go on my hipflask in form of an apology!

@still s8tannorm

Will this include a pub option?

Bin kit, put lights on, cycle to pub?

(yes, I am aware of the scareness of pubs near Nant y Moch 🙂 )

I doubt it too. Nearest would be the Star (which you don't want to go to). Other than that it'd be back into Mach or the George Borrows ... but don't let that put you off 😉

You gotta lay some entertainment on flatfish. If we can't do the nailing then I'll have to take the collection of gin traps I found ... set them, hide them in the grass and wait for someone to go for a slash or there's always your telly. 😉

Don't know if i'm taking the plasma yet as i might slum it with the ground dwellers, might try and be a bit more social.
Gin traps sound fun.

.....so, back on topic then:

Which tyres for a wet/ rocky mid-Wales bivvy trip? 😆

And while we're at it, a quick straw poll:

What whisky do you have in your hipflask?

White wine for me, per-lease.
None of this tramp juice for me.

I shall only think about tyres once I've decided which bike to ride 😉

Copious amounts of tea will be my choice of refreshment ... but not in a hipflask.

I've a limited edition, 40 year old bottle of whiskey ... which I won't be bringing. Instead I'll be carrying some of Lidls finest tea bags.

Still having a mess around with a route, don't expect anything too taxing. SS should be fine but I think I'll be using a selection of gears ... but I could easily change my mind yet 😉

Centre of Machynlleth - Stuart suggested the former Celtica car park. So into Mach on the A489 to the T junction by the clock/monument thingy. Turn left and it is on your left after about 100m. IIRC correctly there is a leisure centre or swimming pool there as well.

IanB- I'm staying at Nant Rhys this weekend- waht's the fuel situation like up there at the moment? Is the bowsaw in good shape? I am told there is no axe at the moment, so I'll take one with me.

Ambrose, bow saw was there but didn't need to use it. We left a small bag of coal there Sunday am, so might still be there this weekend. The maintenace crew were there too, so might have left something.

Sstu, the wheel weighs enough as it is, I'm not filling it with wine as well! 😉

Thought about trying to tubeless it but not sure it'd stay on the rim at 6 psi.

Plenty of snow here at present and -3 ... it's possible that the weather is confined to just our valley though 🙄

Just taken delivery of a thermolite bag liner which is meant to increase my bags range by 6 degrees ... we'll see.*I might be joining in with Ian and using 2 bags.

*Oddly, at first I wrote, I might be joining Ian in his 2 bags!!! good job I spotted that, eh 😉

I won't comment on bail-outs ... 'spose I can't really as I've no real idea who's coming along 😀

Enough snow this afternoon for Dennis to go sledging!

Arm's still not great ta, would seem to be rsi (cue comments). I was instructing yesterday and it held up but hurt rather alot last night ... to the point of shouting **** me down the phone to my mum at one point as I tried to lift a brew up with it 😉

OK- looks like I'm back in. This weekend's bothy trip has been postponed due to much wussiness. Family duties now re-aranged. Provided that I can actually get up to Mach through the predicted glacial weather I will be there with some of Lidl's finest.
