The evolve XC cranks on my five are knackered and I want to replace them but I cnat get the arms to come off the BB I know the chain ring side comes off butr they wont budge any ideas have tried WD$) and a bit of tapping!!!! I have also removed the crainring side allen bolt in the arm!!!
Really wanted to get out tomorow but looks like its hard tail time again!!
put both the inner bolt and outer 10mm 'cap' back on, then undo the inner 8mm bolt and marvel at the self extracting magic! My DH Evolve crank is super tight and it took me a while to figure out the top cap was used to pull the crank arms apart.
I am assuming these are the 'X type' type
I dont seem to have an outer cap? its an 08 model does that make a difference? the whole allen bolt 8mm comes out.
you need an isis crank extractor for the o8, 07 and before had a 10mm self extracting bolt
yep undo the big allen cap on the chainring side and screwing the crank extactor and pull off the arm.
