I've got a cassette stuck on a rear wheel and it won't budge, I'm pulling so hard my chain whip is bending and still no movement on the lockring. I've sprayed GT85 all over it and left it for a bit but that made no difference. Anything else I should try before taking it to the bike shop?
Turn the wheel over to get behind the cassette, get a length of wood hold it against the lowest rear part of the cassette possible and tap it with a hammer, go round the cassette and it should loosen.
I had the same problem at the weekend, ended up wrapping a bit of old chain around the cassette and putting the whole thing in my vice, then a long extension over the lockring spanner and got it off. May destroy the cassette tho'
Ah I mis-read the post, if it is your lock ring that is stuck, then give it a spray of plus gas leave it to soak and it should shift.
Ah, I have heard of plus gas but never used it. Is it the sort of stuff one can procure from Wilko's?
Halfords should have it.
It does work but it's not an instant miracle, be patient with it and it'll do the job.
You may laugh but you could try a carbonated soft drink like Coke, I've freed up a stuck pair of forks that way, something to do with the oxygen in the bubbles from what I understand.
Just pour it over the lock ring and leave it for a few minutes.
Great stuff, thanks for your help.
you could try putting the cassette tool in a vice and turning the rim to get more leverage.

Pretty sure the freewheel works against you. What I did when I had this was stick the cassette in the vice and got a spanner on the cassette bolt/holder thing. Dead easy to get off that way.
