Weird one this. Got strava kudos from a complete stranger in Stoke on Trent (I live in Northumberland) for a short ride I did with my lad last night.
Nothing special about the ride, other than it was an after-school ride at (fast) 8 year old's pace.
Do I block him for not introducing himself? In a cynical, modern-life-is-rubbish way, is it worrying that this ride in particular has a couple of photos of an 8 year old boy on?

If you don't want that happening, make your account private so people have to request access to see it.

lol it might have been me!
If you're on the stw strava group I somethimes go through them giving kudos to good looking rides or rides with cool pics. 🙂
I did 2 rides yesterday and had a few drinks after and I fear I might have kudosed several in the group.
Despite my current location, my intentions were honourable I assure you. 😆

That explains the random kudos I got last night too.
Is your strava picture the cotic logo?
Confused me as well 🙂

Random kudos can be cool. A random French bloke I passed on the Col du Petit Saint Bernard last summer found me on Strava afterwards and gave me a comment and a thumbs up 🙂

And if you use Zwift, random kudos comes by the dozen...

Was just going to say, until you get one from every continent* for a single ride, you're nothing

*apart from the chilly one - haven't had that yet 🙁

I zwifted with someone with the same name as me last week. Obviously he got kudos!

(I do actually give Strava kudos after zwift races - only to the people I was directly "battling" as I'm not quick enough to do it on zwift)

Is giving kudos only for premium members? I am a free user and i am unable to give kudos as its greyed out.

Never mix drink and internet....it can lead to many a problem. (As my eBay purchases can testify)

This happens to me occasionally. Honestly, I'll take that kind of validation from wherever it's offered so no complaints from me!

I confess, I have been a random strange kudos-giver in the past. Was using the phone and scrolling through recent stuff in one of the groups I'm in. Due to shoddy scrolling technique I accidentally kudos'd something on the way past.

Tried to take it back. Did you know you can't un-kudos? I didn't. Considered messaging the kudosee to say "Didn't mean that." But thought that'd be crueller than letting them think they'd managed to impress a random stranger.

when I first heard about zwift I tried the "just watch" function. Didn't have a clue how any of it worked and I'm pretty sure I fanboi'd everyone in sight (I reckon I got a boy scout badge for giving 10 thumbs up or whatever, even before I'd set up the turbo)

Not sure why that would be worrying?

I regularly get kudos from the same random strangers that I don't believe I've ever met or ridden with. There are plenty of people I've never met but connected with through Instagram and stuff like that - people who ride in the same area etc. But there are literally complete randoms who I don't know from anywhere who kudos every other ride...

Try changing your gender* for a few days and see what random kudos and comments you get if you don't turn on privacy...

* just the setting in Strava - let's not get carried away!

SOmetime look at "flybys" to see who I passed on a ride, if it looks they did a good/hard ride or where friendly, smiled and waved I give them Kudos!

I've had it from people in the states, Canada, Europe and the far east. I suspect they are pedos as my profile pic is my son on his bike lol

I do the same, ill check flybys for when I don;t ride a trail centre and to see if there's anything good that other people are hitting.

Shake-Kudos all

I've done the shake all when I have ridden BPW and its grouped our rides together.

when planning a new ride i go segment exploring, then look at the details for the fastest riders and click on the date to check out their route - if its of any interest I may scam it for myself and id probably give em kudos out of courtesy... 🙂
