How do i stop it? is there a cover that should be on the coil? Thick grease?

Rob,
Yes, there should be a heat-shrink rubber sleeve on the spring, but they sometimes work their way down the spring.
This happened to me (causing a clunk on rebound) so I had to move the sleeve back to the middle of the spring - problem solved.
My fork is a plain old Tora 289, without U-Turn, but the spring is in the other leg (I think) so I'd guess that you have the same problem.
Only one way to find out...
