Afternoon,

Sadly my Marin was stolen around lunchtime today from it's bike rack outside the Mental Health Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital (where I work.) It's the same rack that's held my road bike and singlespeed safely for years, but today someone seems to have come tooled for the job with enormous bolt cutters to defeat my lock 🙁

The bike: Marin Rocky Ridge, Marzocchi All Mountain 1 (2006) forks, Quad Hydro front disc, Avid Juicy 5 rear, Crossroc wheels, XT shifters, Deore front mech, XTR rear.

I've gotten a crime number and all that but have resigned myself to never seeing it again.

What's most gutting is it was my first real ride on the bike this morning commuting to work off-road.

I thought I would post here in case, by chance, someone in the area comes across it or see's it offered for sale. I'll attach pictures later on.

🙁

Swines. Get an ebay search set up. My mate's garage in Marple bridge was fdone last year, his CX bike turned up on Ebay a fortnight ago (the cops went and got it eventually, it was indeed his) and a likely looking road bike turned up this morning

Hope you find your bike, nbt's advice is sound!

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep an eye on ebay as it does seem like the logical place for them to sell it.

I've now found myself looking at every single bike riding around on the long bus journey home this evening, although quite what I'd do if I actually saw it I don't know (beyond the obvious "oi, oiks!")

Hospital security came over today and said they have an idea who it might be. Apparently they have a regular thief who constantly tries it on with cars on site, they passed his details over to the police but I'm not sure they can do much without direct evidence.

He lives nearby which would fit with someone seeing the bike and then coming back with boltcutters.

Resigned to not seeing it again 🙁
