Hi there. In a bid to make the bike as hot as possible i'm chucking this on as many forums as possible.
Good friend of mine was staying in a b+b in the centre of the town last night with this bike and a Orange hardtail locked onto the roof of the car. Woke up this morning to find only the orange on the roof and the locks prised open.
I don't have any pics at the moment unfortunately but the spec is as follows:
04 (I think) Jekyl in team colours (blue and yellow)
Pace RC 130 forks
LX brakes
Full x9 kit
XTR Cranks
KCNC Bars
Thompson Stem and seatpost
The one thing to look out for is the lime green Ergon grips as they are pretty obvious and very rare
If you could keep your eyes peeled and you are in the area it would be much appreciated. Many thanks!
"locked onto the roof of the car"
Overnight he mental ?
Must have been surprised... that he even had one bike left. I think you SHOULD be able to leave them out but I have no faith that you can these days.
He has his moments - it has to be said :-). But all the same it was nicked.
I must say however that a sleepy little climbing town in north wales could easily be perceived as not being massively high risk.
It is bad news mate .. but to leave an expensive bike on the roof of a car overnight is madness IMO hope he get's it back though.
People that live around trail centres know the value of bikes believe me small town's or not.
I've had many a person say to me "nice bike" followed by "much is that worth" ?

What, those sleepy little towns that are magnets for people into outdoor pursuits such as mtbing, climbing and other activities where people use lots of very spensive gear that sells easily on the black market? The same sleepy little towns that are also magnets for well-organised thieving bastards who know that lots of people will be quite naiive and blase about leaving their spensive stuff in their cars, as they sleep?
Sorry, but this is the reality. So much stuff gets stolen from places like this, because the thieves know people won't expect much crime in such 'sleepy little towns'. and therefore probbly won't make much effort in securing their spensive stuff.
Bad news, though. Best of luck getting any positive result.
I have had the same. My usual reply is "enough" or "more than you can afford". Unfortunately in this world and in that situation I would have put my bikes in the car or slept in the same bed as them. My guessing is that the proprietor of their accommodation wouldn't allow it and their car is barely big enough for one bike let alone two. All te same it's a bit shit!

ByC attracts lots of visitors, I wouldn't call it sleepy by any means.
Sorry to hear about your mate's bikes, I guess he'll have to put that one down to experience.
I saw a fully tricked out ventana full sus tandem with CK and XTR all over it left over night in Aberystwyth on the roof of a car. I was amazed to see it still there the following morning. My guess was the thing was worth several times as much as the car it was attached to!
