evening...
i have just had my wrist cast off and have been told that it isnt broken, that would have been fine and easy to fix... instead i have complex damage to my tendons on the ulnar side of my wrist which requires a contrastsing injection MRI (or somthing along those lines) followed by a possible op. ๐ฏ
The upshot is that i still can't ride my bike as impact vibration is bloody agony and the doc reckons it could be a upto a year before it really calms down. ๐
I got my new road bike 3 days before i did my wrist and have only ridden it twice.... think its time to get a turbo
Gutted for you mate, hope it heals soon and you can get back out there!
Unicyle?
sorry to hear about your accident.i hope you can get back on your bike again soon. good luck ๐
Chin up. Thanks to viral labyrinthitis I have managed to ride twice since mid June. Worst thing about it is I keep getting dizzy spells with no warning so can't plan anything. Had to cancel this eve's ride because of it.
Booked in for BBB next weekend, I have paid for a 'race' entry & it looks like riding my bike may be a challenge in itelf.
cheers guys, am about to buy a turbo from merlin. that said the unicycle ROCKS!! however mrs vader just gave me THAT LOOK ๐ฏ
hope everyone who is off the bike gets well soon!
1yr...start running or something else.
doing that too al.... havnt run for a few months and went last night... hoping for legs to return to normal before i go again on friday ๐
Feel for you mate I am 6 weeks into 5 months off the bike. I was just as surprised/depressed as you when I found out about it. I thought I had a loose body in my ankle from a sprain 5 months earlier. I found out 30 mins before the operation that I had broken my leg 5 months (now 6) ago and would be off the bike for 5 months. I have just started to walk and cant even go on a turbo/exercise bike.
The mental side of it will get better. Heal fast matey.
EDIT: And as for 'The Look' I got told off the other day for rolling down the garden on my BMX.
tbh i didnt think that i would be off the bike that long. and i guess that i figured maybe a couple of months. ah well. I ache... i feel your pain. did something similar a few years ago. fell over a tree root and broke my ankle 2 weeks before a helly hansen race. i thought it was a sprain so got an ankle support from darth vaders spares bin and ran the race.... 6 or 7 months later i finally go see a consultant who decided that i had broken it and that i shouldnt havedone any sport/work etc. he alsoi added that there wasnt anything he could now do and that all the pain was all nerve damage... which they couldnt really do anything about either. good luck with yours.... i can recomend bioskin supports if the nhs ones dont work.
Join a gym - I had 2 months on spinning bikes, steppers, cross trainers and leg weights when I broke my shoulder last October. Just rest your arm on something. Have kept up with the intervals and weights and am now fitter than ever!
Prettier girls to look at than you get in the woods too,
GB
going to the wrong woods then gee!!! ๐ have tried gyms several times but dont really like them.
Seems like your ankle was worse than mine daftvader. I'm so glad I can walk a little now. Really looking forward to physio and then an exercise bike in about 4 weeks.
I carried on riding with mine to. Managed to get up and down Snowdon on it, not many people can say they have ridden snowdon with a broken leg :D. I was in shock when the Dr said I had broken it, I was expecting to only have 5 weeks max off the bike.

Get a unicycle (and some wrist braces) - there are some awesome looking fat tyred ones that go round swinley - plus you will learn some good skills to take to the mtb when you get back on it.
I ache... I dont think so. I didnt need any ops or anything. I strapped it solidly for a couple of months and it fixed fine, I was really really lucky. just left me with some fairly bad nerve damage which calmed down after a couple of years. still get the occasional twinge tho. have ordered a turbo from merlin today. turnerguy I would LOVE to get one plus it would mean I use my swinley pass.... but I dont want that LOOK again from swmbo! where can I get me one tho..... just for research you understand ๐
edit.... just researched them... I wouldnt get tho LOOK.... i would get the black eye! ๐ฏ
Not sure why she doesn't want you to get a unicycle, but if you want to get out on the road, get a recumbent rike - ridable with one hand.
unicycle round swinley would be a lot safer than a recumbent on the road...
or get a season pass for the segways at swinley...
