My rear derailleur is sticking when I shift from the smallest few cogs towards bigger ones (i.e. releasing tension on the cable)
I've cleaned the bike and sprayed some silicone into the cable but it's still sticking, even on the stand with no chain on (nothing happens for 3-4 clicks then it suddenly jumps 3 shifts).
Is a full cable replacement the only way to improve this (they are quite old I suppose now) or has anyone any neat tricks for improving the shifting?
Cheers
Just best off replacing the old outers are probably worn through by the inners as well .
I had a similar sounding problem recently, and I took the derailleur off, stripped down and gave it a thorough cleaning and while doing so also changed the cable which sorted the problem. The Park Tools guides located here and here were really useful in doing this.
Changing the cables +1, also check the cable run to make sure there are no kinks/tight turns etc
ok many thanks, I'll give that a go...just need to deceipher the tens of options on CRC!
Any recommendations at a reasonable price?
