Got a lovely old DMR frame which I'm running as an SS at the mo. No intention of ever running gears on it, so have sawn off a few of the cable guides as I was bored! Am planing on removing the rest, and also the canti bosses too. The aim will be to get a simple paint job done on it (possibly myself to do - will post another thread on that at some point!) but is there anything to do to protect the exposed frame until it's painted? Nail varnish?? Moose spit??

Can't you just paint the exposed bits? Get a cheap rattle can from Halfords, I'm guessing you are going to have to strip the rest of the paint of eventually any way?

In my experience the best thing for covering up those patches would be smooth Hammerite.
