Saddle angle, bottles left on, luggage left on, [s]sportive[/s] race plate left on.

All of these are crimes. However, not deserving of some twunt trying to steal your bike!

I think this is one time that we can all agree with Boris,

I think [those who steal bicycles] deserve punishment and I'm calling for Sharia law for bicycle thieves.

I don't understand how they wouldn't have noticed someone trying to do that? Must not spend a lot of time looking in their mirrors.

Can't help wondering - did they know this was going on ? Did they happen to check the footage and find it? Why are they filming out the back anyway?
Smacks of one of those set-ups (posted by Active San and not the "victim"?) How many real chavs could chase down a car for that long without downing 6 cans of Red Bull?

Presumably she found the bike loose on the rack with the various clamps opened and she's checked the footage

No. Really? She should be working for the CID with that sort of razor sharp insight.

Until he goes for the top-tube clamp I guess he'd just look like he was tying his shoelaces.

Or it might be a van (would explain why it needed a camera).

The article says "car" several times.

I see plenty of cars with both forward and rear facing camera, not unusual. Almost always driven by a TERRIBLE driver though ๐Ÿ˜‰

Must be able to catch him from the footage though, his face is crystal clear & misy be some prints on the bike/carrier etc (or is that just a CSI fantasy!)

Assume the same witnesses who did sod all about it wouldn't have batted an eyelid if the car had reversed over the little scrote a few times and then driven off.

witnesses who did sod all about it...

So, according to the road.cc version of events:

"There were quite a lot of traffic lights so we kept stopping and starting.

"When I noticed a guy cycling along behind me, I thought he was a bit close to the back of the car.

"But I just thought he was being silly - because if I had to brake, then he was going to hit me.

"I thought: well he can do what he likes - he's only putting himself in danger.

The next thing I knew, we were at the last set of lights before you accelerate onto the dual carriageway, and I heard a beep from the car behind us.

"As I looked into my rear view mirror, that's when I saw the cyclist twiddling the top fastening of the bike. Just then, the light went green so I started to accelerate.

"From what I could see, the bike was still attached - so I decided to carry on because I knew he wouldn't be able to keep up with the car."

So yes, the witnesses did do something, they sounded their horn to alert her, and after that she did know what was going on.

It looks like the scrote actually rides into the rack a couple of times shortly after the first attempt!
