After some new boots to go on some flow ex rims and thinking of some spesh tyres. Almost every tyre I've tried on the flows have been a massive pain in the arse to fit so I'm keen to avoid any further tyre nightmares, has anyone any experience of fitting specialized tyres to flow ex rims?

Thinking specifically of the slaughter grids in 2.6 inch flavour. Ta

Eliminator and Slaughter 2.6 went on my Flow EX rims with no issues, seated with a track pump. I do find most tyres ok though, although I have had to cut a Rock Razor Off in the past when using pro core.

Are these the old Flow EX or the new EX3 rims?

They're old ex rims

Cheers, I was just concerned as I've ordered a wheelset with the ex3 rims

Used to run Spesh Butcher and Purgatory on the older ex Flows. Not as wide a tyre as you're looking at, think they were 2.4/2.3 and went up with a track pump okay

Yeah, 2.3 butchers go on them fine, track pump only needed. 2.6 spesh have tyres tho’, they’d be rolling off everywhere on EX rims I’d have thought?

They're fine, not a true 2.6 really. More of a Magic Mary 2.35.

Cheers. I'm hoping to use them as a large volume xc tyre for a rigid MTB. No danger of them rolling off, I'll only be pootling around.

I bought some 2.6 butcher grids to use on my FlowMk3’s and only rode ‘em twice due to the feel of them squirming and rolling around. Tyre, or rim? I’m not sure but other 2.5 - 2.6 tyres have felt fine.

2 ride old pair of 2.6 butcher grid griptions anyone?

They’re like that on 30mm rims too! But much better with foam inserts.

Hmmmm.... haven’t tried them with inserts. I run rimpacts on my Maxxis DHR’s and they’re fab.

Must be a personal/tyre pressure thing. Put some air in your tyres.
