Bought a singlespeed 29er yesterday unfortunately it has ISIS cranks. So I wondered, does anyone have any HTII compatible crank suggestions?
Did you consider buying a good quality ISIS BB rather than buying a new crankset and BB?
5 year guarantee on Crank Bros ISIS . Mine is about 3 years old.
Don't know if the SKF ISIS BBs are available, but they're well regarded.
I run an isis middleburn ss crankset with a crank bros BB and I've had years out of it so far. TBH a nice square taper white industries crankset and BB will out last any external bb cack by years as well.
Longest lasting ISIS BB I've had was/is Superstar. Only ever managed 6 months from a Crank Bros one.
So I'm guessing HT2 isnt the norm for ss? I'll take a look at the crank bros jobbies epicyclo ,
ta.
I'm running 2 isis BBs on singlespeeds and the Superstar ones have so far outlasted anything including SKF ones
Square taper and white industries +1

There's nothing wrong with HT2 in my opinion, but like ISIS good bearings are essential if the BB is to survive long.
Generally the preferred option with SS is square taper because even the cheap Shimano BBs last well - possibly because square taper usually come with bigger bearings than is possible in ISIS or external. An old-fashioned separate balls and cup bearing is probably the closest thing to an everlasting BB because they are easily serviced and maintained. (They don't last long if not maintained which is why you don't see them these days).
Personally I like Middleburn cranks, and I've got a set with square taper and one with ISIS. Both good, but the the square taper BB has been replaced once while the Crank Bros ISIS has lasted fine.
