Ok.. so with the split link thingy. Is it ok to open and close this regularly to remove the chain to clean etc or should it only be done when replacing chains?

I do with mine. Have three chains that swop between,and take em off for maintainance etc. Still seems pretty secure. Always carry a spare link on a ride though.
