SRAM road brake lever adjuster borked

Anyone got any good tips for fixing these? Ancient circa 2010 era Red. Peering inside the little plastic block is all the way to the front, and the adjustment bolt just spins. Have I knackered the thread in the plastic bit by turning the bolt too far the wrong way? 🤔 looking online, there was a guy who noticed his had rotated 90 degrees inside so he just turned it back, doesn’t seem to be the case with mine though!

next step is to disassemble the whole shifter but I don’t really want to do that if I can avoid it!
