Anyone know if there's much difference between X9 & X0 rear mechs apart from the cage material?

Andy

(Usually subscribe to best-shifters-and-cheapest-compatible-mech approach but have successfully bent an X0 mech...)

My X9 rear mech has been through the wars - you can tell by the considerable scarring. Have bent them in the past but never broken one. I did however manage to blow apart the carbon cage on an X0

well it is better made with better parts so it is better.
It is possible to fix /service an X0 one especially the all alloy cage version.
Do you mean can I tell in operation then the answer is no
EDIT: where how have you bent it? if it is alloy you can remove the bottom cage and vice fix it IME. X0 shifters do shift better , smoother and more gears up than X9 ones if that helps

Think I've bent the axle the cage rotates on (cage looks relatively straight); had an off on the ice in Jan (which also bent the mech hanger - now replaced).

Have X9 shifters; if/when I go 2x10 I'm planning to get X0s, but it's a bit hard to justify them until something serious breaks or it's new bike time.

You may be able to buy a replacement cage but before you do, check you haven't cracked where the cage axle fits into the mech.

Just gone 2x10 speed
Was thinking about X0 but decided X9 rear mech ,X9 10 speed shifter saved over £80 for a pesky 10-25grams

IMHO not worth it.
Works the same as usual Sram as always had Sram, never missed a beat even all S***TED up.. 😀
