any tips for getting it set up nicely? done everything by the book, all limit screws etc in place and the b screw ive done with and with out sag

struggling to shift fast down the cassette in the middle, hesistant on 2 gears, but eventually goes, goes up the cassette perfectly, yet if I adjust the b screw to aleivate the hesistant down shift, its then skipping on the big cog and 2nd biggest

any tips? with a new cassette, chain and rear mech (original x01 eagle shifter)

I take it cable is in good condition (inner and outer)?

Rear mech hanger straight?

No excessive play in freehub?

Chain length correct?

If everything else is new (cables / mech) I'd be looking at the hanger alignment. With the correct chain length and b screw alignment tool there should be no guesswork in setting this up.

when I fitted mine, I had a particular gear that was slow to shift - it was 4th or 5th from the 50T, chain line almost straight, it was slow but would go. when I say slow - I mean hesitant, every other gear was crisply shifting. After a while of just riding it, it was fine and changed as normal. tried the B-screw / red plastic guide, sagged or less sagged, no bent derailleur - just an odd slow gear that sorted itself

Yep new inner cable...not outer and a new mech hanger

Maybe it will perform better out and about....it shifts up fine mostly and if i get it perfectly setup going down it skips on the biggest 2 cogs...so at minute im a bit stumped

New hanger does not mean it is aligned unfortunately.

Is the outer in good condition? Excess friction will make the stiffer to shift up which you can push through, but then the mech spring has to overcome the friction to come down. Outer can look good but the inner liner can be worn through, also the metal strands can corrode.

Indeed, change the outer and align the hanger. Outers don't last as long as (quality) inners in my experience. The other things would be worn jockey, worn chain, worn mech but I'm assuming these are new.

Set the b limit screw at sag, that's what the SRAM video says.

have done the b adjust both sagged and in the stand, it still seems the same on the street test

I will get a new outer as well then, I have had this outer for a fair while (so it endured all last winter being washed etc), ill have to get lbs to check the hangers aligned tho

I wouldn’t disagree with any of the above but would just re-emphasise check the hanger alignment - there’s a good chance it’s out even if new
