Quick question.
I have a SRAM 12 speed Eagle drivetrain (the non flattop type of chain). I recently ordered some new power lock connectors and was shipped the flattop connectors. Does anyone know if the Flattop ones work on a non-flattop chain, or have I ordered the wrong powerlinks.
You've ordered the wrong connectors.
I've no idea if the flat-top ones work with regular chains. Knowing the bike industry, I'd suggest its probably 'no'
I've got a couple of normal 12 speed Eagle connectors but I'm using the flat top ones on the bike now.
If you fancy doing a swap with yours then give me a shout!
all of my eagle chains have come with flat top connectors
they work fine
There's 3 different 12sp links from Sram, the T-type has it written on them, then there's the eagle that comes in silver or rainbow, both have a flat top and there's a 12sp specifically for road chains, typical bike industry confuse and complex everything unnecessarily, CRC had eagle links going for 59 pence during the mad sale recently, I took full advantage to stock up, practically adding one with every order, they've gone back to £3.75 now though.
Thanks for all the responses, looks like I am OK to use the flattop ones I have then as they have Eagle stamped on them.
Post a pic? The Eagle 12 sp ones have a flat ish top but not as flat as the actual flat top chain ones. The eagle one is more rounded than flat. Pic will get you a definitive answer…
I spoke to SRAM and the Eagle ones have EAGLE stamped on the link, whereas the T-Type ones have T-Type on the link, so the ones I have are fine for my chain, they just say Flattop Connector on the description.
That could confuse a stupid person 😀.
Sorry, just an old Pete n dud joke.
