Hi guys
I have sram code rsc brakes on my full suspension bike. And on a second bike i would like to keep the cockpit feeling identical If possible. Sadly I can't afford another set of code RSC. So I wondered does anyone use both code rsc and another breed of the sram brake. For instance the guide RE,code R or g2.
Is the lever shape identical or very similar that you can't tell a difference if you have both? I'm very picky and set in my ways so keeping it very similar is important if possible. Lever blade feel is all I'm after.
I did ask sram technical help, but their support was as good as useless.
Cheers guys
I have quite a lot of experience with RSC and R Codes. Unfortunately, the difference is imo pretty significant. I have never had a set of Code R that felt anything better than "OK". The RSCs on the other hand have superb lever feel and much better power.
You mention feel and shape. Which one do you mean? Most people by "feel" would mean the modulation feeling of how the brakes engage and modulate as you squeeze.
If it's shape, I believe all the levers are the same.
If it's feel, perhaps a Guide/G2 RSC might be similar while cheaper but obviously with less power.
What militantmandy said.
Code (or Guide) Rs feel quite different - I really don’t like them. On the other hand, Guide RSCs have a similar lever throw and ‘feel’ (to Code RSCs) although IIRC the lever blade itself is a bit thinner and you might feel a difference.
Edit: A quick search suggests I may be misremembering that last point.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Good point I wasn't the most clear with my post.
The difference in power, modulation and action of the lever I think I can live with. It's the actual feel if the lever under my finger that would throw me the most I think.
There's that many variants of sram brakes now it's a minefield.
Levers are all very similar but it’s only the rsc models that have reach AND bite point adjust. Brake lever is, certainly in terms of feel and dimensions , identical on code rsc and g2/guide rsc.

These seem like the areas you WOULDN'T want to compromise on. As above, all Code levers are the same shape. The RSC appear to be made from a slightly nicer metal.
One tip I did use that improved the feel was slightly pressurise (slightly) the fluid at the bleeding edge end then close the port.
Tip number 2, often people have a brake brand preference and change SRAM for Shimano then sell them.... worth checking the classifieds or Pinkbike as new brakes can be found for good prices.
Thanks alot guys.
Seems like the RSC variant is the one to go for to keep it feeling the same. Typically the expensive one.
I also use that tip for bleeding. As much as sram brakes are a bit unreliable I really love the feel and power of them.
Appreciate the help 👍
Guide RSC and Code RSC use the same lever blade. P/N 11.5018.003.014
