Too long still? Or just right?

Had to remove 1 link already, in 11th the rear mech still nearly completely doubles back on itself, but I'm taking into account for chain growth when compressed.

EDIT: PLEASE only respond if you've got SRAM 11spd and been running it successfully for a while! I know how to measure a chain for the correct length, I am just worried it might still be a little long hence flap about in the smaller cogs despite the clutch on the mech.

why this thread then?

Assuming it's not rubbing on itself in the smallest ring I'd leave it, gives you options for a larger ring in the future. It won't flap around any more.

Cos I've not ridden it yet, and in the 10T cog the mech still nearly completely doubles back on itself and the chain feels a little loose. If it was a hardtail I'd be inclined to remove a another link straight away.

If youve set it too srams instructions then it will be fine. Mine runs fine and Im on the second chain this year. Make sure it has I think 12 - 16mm gap via tension screw. Yes on 10 it doubles back on its self no issues.

I assume you didnt compress shock when you measured the first time from your comments? They recommend you do that to get the correct length

That chain looks at least a couple of links too short to me. Remember that, in the stand, the suspension is completely uncompressed, so the looseness of the chain on the 10t cog will be taken up by the rider's static sag. That mech has still got a lot of moving forward to do under full compression and it doesn't look like it can go much further. For comparison, a Stumpjumper, with 140mm travel, has the mech pointing to about 5:30 on the 42t cog with no weight on the rear wheel.

I'd unbolt one end of the shock, gently move the suspension through the full range of travel and see what happens.

I would take a picture of my bike but I can't get to it with my bust shoulder... However, I followed the SRAM instructions and it worked fine.

Just checked and in one of my pictures I can see that the mech/chain is almost doubled back on itself in the 10T sprocket.

There should probably be a smiley in there somewhere. Just ride it. If it's not rubbing on the mech or getting ripped in half at full compression it looks about right. SRAMs instructions leave the chain on the long side anyway.

Chain looks too short to me but all bikes are different, I run an X01 on my Commencal and if I have it that short I would more than likely run into issues when fully compressed
