[#6537574]

Current cycle to work scheme runs out in a month or so, so thinking I need to sign up for another!!

I have a bike to ride to work so looking at a new mountain bike, and as I already ride a 29er I like them so would be pushed that way again. Just basic trail riding, not a race machine something that would cope with smaller trail centre and the occasional trip to Wales etc.

Any suggestions in the £1000 limit? Companies scheme is with Halfords so limited in a way but LBS takes the voucher and stocks most main stream brands (Spesh, Trek, Orange, Cube etc) and Halfords Independant can get a lot of things...... Just nothing too specialist!!

Where would your money go?

Whyte 629 would be a good shout.

I know it's not exactly what you're after, being a 650b, but a Giant Talon 0 is well worth a look if you can be persuaded towards that wheel size.

2 very good suggestions to look into!

Jamie - the new one is to ride for work when the ride to work bike is broken.... 😆

I would have also accepted one was for going to work, and the other was getting home from work.

That would have been a better answer admittedly!

Boardman 29er looks good vfm. You can also get 10% off with British cycling membership.

If you're going to Halfrauds, do this to save 22%.

Test ride some and see what you like.

Or do what some internet strangers tell you.

I reckon the £600 Voodoo Bizango should be in with a shout, for no other reason than I used to have the old steel 26" version, and I liked it....a lot 😀

That's what I have already, the Voodoo Bizango! Great budget bike but fancy an upgrade seeing as I can through work!

Pinnacle Ramin Four, an Evan's brand (no idea if you can buy from them) but a worthy little frame if you already have the Bizango
Be-wary of Halfords Independant supplying you a bike from a brand they don't stock, IIRC you used to loose the original manufacturers warranty and revert to a std 1 year from halfords (losing say Spesh's life time warranty would be a hard blow).

The boardman 29er has a reasonably good spec.

On One won't deal with Halfords or take Halfords C2W vouchers so thats a no go!!

Just popped in to local Halfords and the Boardman 29er looks well spec'd and looks nice. When I have more time I will see what they will do in the way of a test ride..... I'm guessing at most a quick spin around the car park!!

I agree with z1ppy. Been riding one (Ramin 4) pretty hard for 6 months and it's a great bike. Last years Ramin 5 has better forks and is discounted so I'd look at that one.

I don't think that's in the spirit of the arrangement.

It's the Cycle ToTo Work scheme. No mention of cycling home again.

That's why I need a new one..... Used the last one to cycle to work and it's still there!
