i know they are pretty impossible to get out once installed (the black 10 speed ones), but do they come out using the master link pliers? ive got some park tools master link pliers and if i can use a sram powerlink then that would be great....

Yep - that is exactly what I have to remove it.

itheisinger - forgot to ask also, do you re use the same one? does it go back on ok and click into place when turning the cranks?
It's not designed to be reused. They will work, but I'd far rather use one that's been designed for multiple uses (like the KMC Missing Link) rather than have one go as I'm grunting up a climb.
I'll say it again - just use a (re-usable) 9-speed Powerlink instead.
just spoke to the shop and all the guys there race and ride using the 10spd sram ones and reuse them, i guess if its good enough for them its good enough for me 🙂
not that i do tend to take it apart very often anyways to be honest.
since ive been using rock n roll extreme it keeps itself pretty spotless!
I re-use them. No problems in 3 years.
