Ok, so Ive seen various threads on 9 speed Sram shifters working with Shimano's 10 speed clutch mechs but has anyone modified a Sram X9 10 speed clutch mech to work with a 9 speed Sram X9 shifter? I can see the logic with Shimano stuff as it hasnt got the plastic cam to have to go through so it is easy to alter the 'pull'.

Ive seen someone change the cam on the back of their X0 clutch mech to one from a 9 speed X9 and it works as the cam is larger but wont work in my case due to mounting points of said cam.

I didnt so my research after building a new bike and am finding 10 speed clutch mechs dont work wholly with 9 speed setups. I dont really want to buy a new cassette, chain and shifter! Otherwise Ill sell the mech and buy a Shimano mech!

I've never seen it done but I don't think people have put much effort into it- the SRAM 10-speed stuff isn't as good as Shimano and the setup's so easy that way that there's not much reason to look further imo

You're going to have to buy a new cassette and chain when your current one wears out anyway, so just hang on to the 10sp mech and make the change when your 9sp stuff is ready for replacement.
