Just got the 7Stanes newsletter, saying that Spooky Woods should be re-opened by about now. Has anyone ridden it since?

What's the score with the various changes they've made? Must say I thought it was in pretty ok condition (at least compared to the likes of Pennels Vennel which has a small river flowing right down the trail when it's raining).

Yep its open and there are quite a few subtle changes in the first 100 yards. Oh and a new tabletop too!

Should be OK in the daylight - if a bit loose still.

Weird last night in the rain and mist as there's a lighter coloured gravel been used to fill in some of the dips and depth/colour perception was making it all a bit..........spooky.

Quite a bit of loose stuff on the top I gather as it dries out and shrinks back... That'll clear off with a bit more riding though.

The top bit had a fair bit of ice damage- frostheaves etc- from last winter. It wasn't in bad nick but it's a jump line more than anything else so they keep it tidier than most of the trails. Most of the trails get better as they wear in, and only get resurfaced or rebuilt once they're shagged out, but spooky needs a good surface to work as designed.

Know what you mean about the stream on pennel's vennel but I'd be sad if it was gone, it's part of the trail to me. Friendly erosion ๐Ÿ˜‰ Though, I'd like to get rid of the epic braking bumps before the flat corners.

i totally gte your bmx comment
- same with cv !
Spooky wood was open but still have diverions and some of the black was closed still - the new surface is very loose so lets get riding it and pack it down fast!!!! - I much prefer more natural stuff to spooky anyway.

Well, Broon Troot and Secrets and Lies, no they're not natural but they are mainly made of mud

Did Spooky on Saturday and yesterday and its pretty loose and marbly on the berms. The jumps have nice fresh sharp kickers too, good air to be had! Unfortunately, I took some good air and ended up "off-piste" no injuries but a lost grip locking collar and endcap. Theres a couple of beige coloured gravel patches in the woods, they look a bit like concrete.....
I also kinda like the wee river on Pennels. Didn't make much difference yesterday anyway, the whole trail was like a river! Mudfest, just gotta love it!
Who cares what the trails like, the Hub cakes more than make it a worthwhile day out! ๐Ÿ˜€
