The Captain is probably the best match for both I think, in the fast-but-grippy-and-versatile mold. Really liking mine so far, surprisingly capable in wet and loose stuff. A bit lacking at straightline braking but that's cool in a tyre like this.

(Fast Trak could be considered a Ralph equivalent but it's nothing like as good imo, very single-job.)

Agree with that, Fast Trak manages to be heavy for a tyre with so little grip, but The Captain is an impressive tyre, does better in mud than it deserves to as well.

Agree on Captain, but only as a rear, I'm not really enjoying it on the front at the moment and it will be coming off shortly.

Great rear tyre though, rolls really well for the amount of grip it provides.

I think The Captain is a decent tyre and a reasonable partner to a Butcher on the front but it's not like a Crossmark or a Ralph. Both are lighter and faster rolling the difference is instantly noticeable.

Depending on where you ride The Captain may actually be quicker from A-B it kind of digs in and goes on loose rubbly wet stuff where a Crossmark/Ralph might spin out. On hardpack or buff trail centres though The Captain is kind of draggy & Crossmark/Ralph much quicker.

Ground Control would be more of an equivalent

Sauserwind, but not sure if they are still making it. I think they stopped doing it and replaced it with the Ground Control....so maybe not much help....

I've got a barely used S-Works Captain 2.2", and a pair of 2" S-Works Sauserwinds if you weren't entirely set on Control.

My Control 2.2 is lighter than my Crossmark 2.25, and comparable speedwise. Wider, too, I think. Control is sort of equivalent to snakeskin skwabbly so you're looking at the heaviest and widest Ralphs there. And miles better puncturewise ime.

Geax Saguaro is like a Captain that actually works.. hated those Captains myself, bough them as they looked a bit like Pythons which were great for trail quests but lacking a bit of bite.
