I have a Camber (2015 vintage).

It's got that noticeable little knock when you pick it up so something in the back end is wearing.

I'm going with the upper/forward top hat bushings on the shock eye as my start point (I have some spare already if I can find the blighters) although I can't feel movement there and I will also be checking the Bolton the yoke.

If it's not that then where next/any other weak points or is it a bearing kit and do the lot?

If bearings want doing can someone tell me:

1) what tools and

2) is this a total bottom of a job (i.e. lots of faffy fiddling and/or inordinately time consuming).

It seems the Roval rear wheel has also chosen to lunch it's bearings as well.ย  More of a project than a mountain bike at the minute...

Hi Mike.

No I meant to type "and what tools will I need?" on point 2.

Not averse to buying tools if the job itself isn't too hideous as getting bike to and from the shop can be a bit of a faff in itself.ย  Balance of dragging bike into town and paying for the labour vs. buying the tools and saving cost longer term.

A proper bearing puller is key for a job like that normally, not done a recent one though but it makes a lot of things much easier for getting the old ones out and some of them will help pressing them back in - the old FSR toolkit one was great but mega spendy!!

I had the same camber. Bought a cheap homemade bearing puller on eBay which worked perfectly. Main pivot bearing just above bb went first. They were easy to replace. The only ones I had trouble with were the ones in the chainstay which were more work to remove.

As above, most are ok to remove but the double blind bearings on the seatstay pivot are a nightmare. Mine were seized solid and I had to Dremel a slot in them and chisel the remains of the.

Thanks all. Time for sleep but any more input welcomed. I fear this may be next Saturday's project...

little knock when you pick it up

It's usually the shock eyelet bushing. It's a good opportunity to go for an offset bushing that might improve the handling of your bike!

Check the bearings as you go because it's not unusual for some or all to be seized and/or notchy if the bike has had some hammer in wet conditions.

Mine were seized too but I used some heat from a hot air gun with one of the above linked pullers to get em out. For the others I just used various sized sockets, bolts and washers, no need to spend on proper pullers unless your going to be doing loads.

Popped back to say thank you for the advice and also another quick question or two.

I've had most of the pivots apart and given them a quick clean today and all feel good and smooth. Air can opened up and all lovely clean and greasy in there.

The upper shock bushing is very much looking like the knocking culprit (before I get to the possibly also borked wheel bearings).

So what I'm not sure of is best place to source the relevant bush from and how to size it if ordering.

I would have gone to the dealer I got the bike from except for the fact they moved their shop even further from the office so it's no longer doable over lunch so I need to mail order.

Intrigued by the offset option too.

Any further help greatully receiver.

2015 Camber Evo.

Please can anyone confirm if these are the top eyelet bushings i need?

TF Tuned bits

Also the mounting hardware includes 2 washers, which I cannot see listed at the local Specialised dealer. Anyone had to replace those/know a source?

Thanks
