In-laws want to buy one of these for junior.

Only concern is that at 2 y/o in Sept, he will be too short for it

Am I an idiot to think I could remove the seat post and wrap a bit of Karrimat around the top tube for him to sit on? Toptube seems to be at a good height.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I'm sure that'll be fine. We had the same problem, our lad is average height and wasn't big enough for it until he was nearly 3. Unless they've changed the design the Hotwalk doesn't even let you drop the saddle fully. The seat tube is closed at the bottom. I managed to find a bit of tubing to use as a temporary seat post, so the saddle was low enough, but I reckon you could tape something on to do the job instead for a while.

we did a bit of research and ended up with a Puky balance bike as it had the lowest possible seat.

Only issue was the wheels were a bit small and we ended up with a strider when she was a bit bigger.

Worthwhile investment though, seeing as kiddo was balance biking the 1.5 miles to nursery on it ๐Ÿ˜€

Strider is lowest I found and light enough for them to pick up themselves.

Our little one's Puky is still going strong after two years of use. He's still a little too short for his Hotrock atm.

We cut the seat post on ours, it's still long enough to get a good bit of height even after cutting. Not sure why they made it so long.

Unless he's a small 2 year old it should fit him fine . They are designed to fit from 18 months up .

Bought our HotWalk when monkey was just turning 2. Had to saw about an inch or more of the seat post but that was all. He rode it religiously and learned a lot from it. He's nearly 5 and still digs it out most days even though he has a CNOC 16 that he's been perfectly capable on since turning 4.
