I did not have a very pleasant ride today on the new roadrat. Feet cold, wet, then numb, and finally agonizing hot aches when I got home. And all manner of sh1te sprayed up my back.
Firstly, can anyone recommend/advise against any spd shoes claiming to be waterproof? Or do they all do what they say on the tin?
And likewise any recommendations for mudguards which fit the roadrat?
Cheers
Gareth
Not quite shoes, but the Shimano MT90s will do the trick. Remember though - if it splashes high it'll run down your leg/sock and into the boot. Sealkinz socks are a good choice.
I've got some "Bontrager Approved Mudguard 700c x 45mm Black" on my Roadrat, they fitted OK apart from the plastic safety clips on the front where the arms fit onto the bottom mounts on the forks, just used some small zip ties instead.
If you could get some light sealskinz in there your feet will be dry and toasty.
For road riding just get some Overshoes
As aracer says i use overshoes on the road as they work so well plus unlike shoes they seal around your leg better. I have got a pair of BBB hardwear ones (in silver so that they stand out when commuting) and can highly recomend them as my feet stayed dry in last weeks down pours i also use sks mudguards.
Another vote for Sealskinz....esp the Thermal merino ones.

I also use BBB hardwear over shoes; well recomended, i use them for off road as well, keep my shoes clean and lasting a lot longer, and my feet nice and toasty ๐
