Got a roady friend coming over to have a go on a proper bike. options are, put some flats on, change his cleats on his shoes, put spd-r pedals on bike.
given that it is pretty dry at the moment mud shedding isn't a big concern, so any reason why spd-r is a bad idea?
very little float makes it hard to move about on the mtb with spd-sl (been there in an stupid forgetting shoes incident), but I doubt He'd die in a fireball or anything
Hmm - can't see a major issue but is he iused to mountain biking - seems not - so he may have to stop more rapidly than on his road bike ?
Can't see a problem unless he has to get off and walk then his cleats will be ****ed.
change his cleats on his shoes,
very few shoes allow 2 and 3 bolt cleats so this is probably out.
depends on the bike/ rider/ terrain.
I've doen it before, its lethal as theres no grip from the shoes so you have to remain in them untill the last possible moment, unlike SPD's where you can rest the cleat over the mechanism and still maintiain some grip.
What size shoes does he have, could you swap/loan him some?
thanks all.
flats or borrowed shoes sounds like the option then.
He will die, fact!
