It was. The racing got scary fast with the times tumbling into the low 20s.

For context, I think my time last summer was about 35 seconds

I didn't get a warm glow when someone 20 years younger than me take 12 seconds out of my race time!

Nice one WCA, any spectator events coming up at the bike park? My son is at uni down there and I'm looking for an extra excuse to pop down and visit. Failing that - what's the deal with using the park as a punter?

The Bike Park is free to use for anyone and always open. We have built a couple of BBQs into the sides of the jumps if you get hungry. We have 'Bike Jams' and other events at random times during the summer and the final round of the Dual Series is in August but I guess your son won't be here then.

The Uni MTB club use the park quite a bit and it is also about 500m from Lordswood which is probably the best woods for single track within Southampton.

Cheers WCA - will get him to check it out, he only has a road bike a uni & is regretting selling his jump bike - looks like a good excuse for me to cobble something together for him to play on 🙂

I have my jump bike gathering dust in the garage which I somehow doubt I will be using again if he is interested.

It is a Kona Cowan but not just any one, this is the one that World Champion Grant 'Chopper' Fielder was given by Kona to compete on so the frame is stamped 'Sample' instead of a frame number.

It has been a year since I looked at it but from memory the headset is stiff and will either was lubing or replacing but other than that is ready to rip up the bike park.

If you, or anyone else, is interested then make me an offer or come to sunny Southampton to have a look at it.
