Off to BPW on Friday and staying locally that evening. Looking to get a ride in the following morning before heading home. Any must do suggestions near by? Ideally technical, fast and flowy. Trail centre or into the wild. Thanks in advance.

Into the sort-of wild, maybe do the Gap loop.
I did it a while back in glorious weather and the scenery is stunning.
It's a down to earth XC-type ride I suppose but a good one.

Cwmcarn is the easy option assuming 'home' if back along the M4. Two great trails there. Forest of Dean, while not S Wales, is pretty close and possibly on the way home and is great for a ride. A bit closer to BPW there are some good rides in the Brecon Beacons. The Gap is the classic but plenty more if you are willing to do some navigation. Cwmcarn is probably the best bang per buck riding IMO

Any technical, fast and flowy riding outside of a trail center will require some fairly in-depth local knowledge, in general. The Gap is easy to follow but the very opposite of flowy and technical. There's tons of fantastic riding in the Beacons of course, and the Valleys are chock full of testing technical trails as well as scenic ones, but it's very much a case of knowing your own back yard as most of the tech stuff is not on maps and can be rather hard to find.

So just stop off at Cwmcarn. Job done.

Have to agree, unless you've got the kit to follow a .GPX you don't really have the time to get out into the wild. Cwmcarn is a great centre, there's a 'highlights' route, but again it requires a bit of local knowledge. Either or both routes depending on how much time / legs you have left.

Don't bother with Afan I would say, especially if you're going with a bike that is more suited to uplifts. There's a lot of climbing for the descending there is.

Thanks guys. Going on a Bronson so should be fine for uplift and a bit of xc. Last time I did BPW was on. capra though. Don't think I will miss the extra travel. Like the sound of the gap and Cwmcarn. Thanks for the suggestions.
