What's a reasonably simple, direct, safe road route between Bellshill and East Kilbride?
Ta muchly
Druidh - this is probably the best route. You'll be on dual carrige way for most of the route, but I ride it all the time and it's fine if you're comfortable on the road in traffic.
Basically leave Bellshill heading towards Glasgow and you come to a big roundabout. Take the first exit down a big hill A725 (Boag's Brae) through a few roundabouts then up the A725 (East Kilbride Expressway). About 35mins at a fairly steady pace.
Hope that helps.
Aye - makes sense. I just wondered if the A725 was OK for cycling. I'd count myself as "comfortable" in traffic ๐
Thanks a lot
Druidh - I commute from Bellshill to Larkhall and although I would also describe myself as comfortable in traffic I avoid the A725 from Bellshill down to the Raith Interchange. My choice of route would be from Bellshill down thro Strathy Park, thro Hamilton up to HIgh Blantyre and into EK that way - bit longer but IMO much safer.
Hmmm ........ ponders.....
In that case, what about taking the A723 from Holytown, through Motherwell and into Hamilton, then the Newhousemill Road/Stroud Road/ Millhall Road and into Eaglesham?
(sorry about this ๐ )
That would also work.
