Bare with me here....

I have a small plastic Box with some electronics inside that I want to mount on the top tube of my bike.

The bike in question has a square cross section aluminum top tube so the box should sit rather well on top of it.

My idea for mounting it (and its not very imaginative) is to stick some sort of thick adhesive foam to the underside of the box and use velcro straps to secure it (unsure what exactly the straps will attach to at this stage)

The trouble is I dont know anything about different types of foam (I am fairly sure I am not alone with this!). I sort of know what I want it to feel like - quite thick and also quite dense so that when you tighten the straps it wont immediately flatten completely but will offer up a bit of resistance and conform to the shape of the top tube. It also needs to offer quite a lot of vibration protection as this is going on a mountain bike. It doesnt have to be waterproof as the box itself isnt so I cant use it in the wet.

I found This on ebay. It seems to come in good thicknesses but is it what I am looking for. Id like to be able to hold it in my hands but sadly I cant?

So any foam experts out there - can you help!

Alternatively - if you have any other ideas how to mount the box please advise!

Can you not just get a cheap old style roll mat and cut that up to use? 20mm thick and pretty solid but able to mould to the surface

I use these for light batteries, could work with this depending on the size:

the foam mat would probably work....If I can find the right sort of glue to fix it on.

Steve - I cant have straps going over the top of the box - it would cover the screen and other stuff. I can screw the box to something underneath if you could fashion some clever mount - I know you are very much into making mounts for things ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers

Sticky gopro mount? Just grind the sticky-up-bits off and stick one part to the frame, the other to the bottom of the box?
