Got an uplift day planned in Feb at Hopton downhill track. It's for a friend's leaving do and we're wanting to stay over in a camping barn or something similar.

Tried Stoke's Barn and YHA Clun Mill but one is booked up and the other is too expensive (you have to have pay for the whole weekend and the price is fixed which works out expensive if only 15 people are staying there, some of whom want to stay Friday and Saturday, others just Saturday...complicated..).

Does anyone have any suggestions for accommodation in that area? Looking for something basic, where there's space to cook and have a few drinks without disturbing other guests.

Cheers guys!

Katie

Have you tried asking the guys at Pearce Cycles, they are usually very helpful.

It's 629 quid for the whole hostel, which for 15 equates to 20 quid a night, not bad considering that you've got the run of the place, we do this all the time, going to Rowan next weekend as a matter of fact. It's great for families as we all stay in, cook up some grub, sit around the fire, drink whisky and someone invariably has a guitar.

Just work out the number staying on each night and divide that into 315 quid for a cost per night for each person, i.e. 15 of you on Friday = 21 quid each, 10 of you on Saturday = 31.5 each, people staying both nights therefore pay 51.50, easy peasy.

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I will ask Pearce actually, they are doing the uplift for us anyway...

See what you're saying Nick, but it will be more like a 7/15 split over the two nights. Clun Mill is booked now anyway! There's Stoke's Threshing Barn, but that is more expensive at £720 for the weekend, so I think we're talking over £50 a night for people staying two nights - not exactly what we had in mind!

Back to the drawing board....

shinsplints: In your dreams. There's 17 guys and 3 girls...

Cheers!

Katie
