clipping an empty trailer on the kerb will make it flip on its side 🙁 and 42 x 16 is not a good childtowing gear. Bugger. Hope its not so easy to flip with little ones in and maybe i should fit a few gears lol she liked it tho 🙂

Ours flipped when I stupidly took an off-camber corner way too fast with just one of my two boys in it. It went over VERY easily. A lesson I learnt & sticks with me to this day.
Luckily he had a 5 point harness on so was fine, in fact he thought it funny & wanted me to do it again.
I was shaking with the shock (& guilt) & took it out on a couple of chavs who'd found it funny.

Oh, & a Spesh Enduro in any gear is not a child towing gear. The roadbike is a perfect tow-bike.

I find mine is quite stable with the 2 boy's in it but i dont tend to do anything daft even though they are both well strapped in..

I use my Merida 850 and its fine 🙂

Clipping a trailer with a child in it on a tree root will also make it flip on its side. 5 point harnesses work very well. Hope your OH isn't in sight when you flip the trailer and make sure it's upright when she comes round the corner 😉

Roadbikes work well as towbikes - even blingy carbon ones. Scott Genii also work fine, as do CX bikes - helps to have a skewer mount hitch so you've not got any funny loads on suspension links.

I wouldn't ever dream of using a bike trailer where I live - I value my sons life way too much to put trust in the lunatics on the road in our town. Even more so after being rear ended by someone whilst riding home. 👿

I'm laughing at this thread, but only because I do a lot of trips with my wife on the back of the Dummy, and I've not slid it. Yet. 😀

Another thing you might learn is that it will track inside on steep corners. My kids got very sharp at dodging bushes on the tow-along

You should have seen the trailers and tag alongs during the races we had at the Big Bike Bash. I am sure some of the children will need therapy and I caught a few parents swapping children to get a better weight ratio!

Both papadirt and I flipped ours over when we used to hire at FOD (before the rooty singletrack around Cannop ponds was off limits 😳 ). No wonder they aren't into biking at all now 😕

another tick here for flipping - missed junction bit of skid and a hard uphill turn

saw a mate forget he had trailer on and did the fancy i can go thru a narrow framed gate/a frame thing with out slowing - so he tucked his elbows in and bang!
