Went Saturday. Long route. Snow, sleet, rain, freezing wind, some trudging through bogs. Lost feeling in toes early on and only came back about 2 hours after we'd finished. Saw one other rider. So in summary, a blooming good day out.

It looks a bit rubbish on some of those photos, but it was fantastic. Fun to be out in the wilds and then finish on a trail centre.

Full set of 'grinning in the grim' are here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/alexleigh/sets/72157650193879110

Our plan to 'jump in the van and ride somewhere different' every two weeks through winter is working well. Next up Quantocks ๐Ÿ™‚

Great pics and very grim looking, but in a good way.

Love it there, some great singletrack and a lovely feel to the place.

Winter looks fun, nice one

I want to go back in summer. If only to enjoy the trail centre bits at the end being able to feel my feet on the pedals! There's some lovely rocky stuff on the long loop- not technical but you can blast down it, and it's so grippy even when wet.

Last three 'away day' rides have been The Gap, Rhayader and now Nant-Y-Arian. All good in different ways, all great in terms of not riding through the same slop at home. Somehow I don't mind a bit of grim if I've travelled to be in it....

Good pics, Alex as always.

I cycled N-Y-A a few years back but saw very little of the tremendous scenery as it was so foggy.

Looks like you got off quite lightly, only time I've ridden there the snow was horizontal and the wind-turbines were going like the clappers. My hands were so cold I couldn't shift gear or undo my helmet straps after the ride.

Half-an-hour later, in the comfort of the visitor centre we realized we'd missed the final section and were contemplating going back an doing the bits we'd missed.

Absolute blast, keep meaning to go back one day.
