Have just purchased some of these lights and used them for the first time last night. Didn't charge them before use as all three power indicator lights were light. out riding with all three power indicator lights light and they failed.
Its now on charge.
How long should I charge the battery for as no instructions came with the lights?
Thanks
Did the lights just cut out before the three green lights going to a single flashing LED? That would not be normal.
What do you mean by failed? Full charge and cut out after 10 minutes or you were running them on high for 30 minutes and drained the battery?
Is there no indicator light on the charger?
Dump your battery pack and buy this

Then buy four genuine good quality 18650 batteries from torchy on ebay.
3+hrs on full power.
Job done!
Or a battery from smudge
Is smudge still doing batteries?

Never noticed the three green lights had gone out. Waiting at a junction for everyone to regroup. Set of again. No lights.
Yes.Is there no indicator light on the charger?
Assuming this goes out when lights are fully charged.
You're using a 30 Watt lamp with a 30 Watt/hour battery. Result 1 hour use (or less if the batteries are recycled from laptops).
Not 6200 lumens of course, 2500 more like.
Light should be red when charging then green from fully charged. Solarstorm batteries only last about 45 minutes mixed use if you're lucky.

The first problem is that you didn't charge them. Don't take three lights on the head unit as proof it's fully charged. Plug the charger in, attach the battery and see if the LED on the charger goes red. As you ran them straight out of the box without checking the charge this way, there's no way of telling (without using a meter) whether the battery is any good or not. Try charging the pack again, and then do a test discharge - run it at full chat and see how long it lasts. Preferably do this outside so the temp doesn't go nuts, and preferably check how hot the head unit is every five minutes or so.
As said above, the batteries that come with these lights tend to be cheap and 'orrible - the money is spent on the lights themselves, not the chargers or packs. Do yourself a favour and buy a new pack with decent cells sooner rather than later. Smudge is excellent.
Hope that helps.

Yes bought some from him just before christmas.

Na, more like less than 1000.
And yes, they'll be recycled laptop batteries that the place you bought them from hope will last long enough so as you cant claim your money back.
There is a reason these light sets are dirt cheap.
Who's smudge?
It says on Solarstorms t&c's you should charge it for upto 5 hrs on the initial charge !..
