Yes, getting dark again.

So what super-lumen light will be the one to have this winter?

Do xm-l's still shine through?

XML-2 are the newer generation. Slightly more output and more efficient too. That's what I'll be putting in my new helmet light..

I've an XML-U3 on my bars, and I'm just upgrading my head torch from XML-T6 to XM-L2 (upgrade cost £10!).

XM-L2 501b from Lightmalls - 11.99 USD at the moment. We'll see if it is any good, but definitely cheap!

I also got my C8 XML-U3 from there - 16.90 USD, though I had to email them to get them to ship Singapore Post and not pay through the nose for UPS.

I would not trust any of the ready made Chinese torches to deliver the stated bin LED. They are a great source of easily delivered cheap LEDs but I would only expect to get a middling to low bin.
If you really want the latest bin you have to go to Cutters or Farnell or one of the other trustworthy component suppliers selling in a country under laws where you have to sell what you claim you are selling.
