Finally managed to get out for a ride on my newly built light bicycle am rims. They were fine, can't say I noticed a huge difference from my old Dt Swiss ex 5.1s though.

The scales don't lie, they're 120.grams per rim lighter than the old rims, but I couldn't tell any difference in use. Can't say I noticed an improvement in stiffness either.

Maybe I'm a ham fisted gibbon on a bike?

They look nice though.

In all seriousness though I'm pretty happy with them and I suspect after a few rides if I went back to the old rims I'd notice the difference.

You expected a 380g carbon rim to be noticably STIFFER than a 500g Alu one?

one ride reviews here are awesome! keep up the good work

All the other reviews reckoned they are. I had no particular expectation one way or another, I just thought that as I needed new rims anyway it was worth a punt on these light bicycles rims as an experiment. I'm just posting my experiences so far. Feel free to disregard them if they offend you.

thats interesting, as you say, not what the forum reviews would have you believe. How is the spoke tension? I understand you can tension them higher which should mean stiffer?

you should definitely notice a drop of 120g at the rim, maybe you didn't due to draggy muddy conditions? I went from a 1800g wheelset to a 1550g one and the difference was massive.

Anyways I am impatiently waiting for mine to arrive...been 2 weeks now...

Google light bicycle company, they were 275 quid Inc shipping and taxes for 2 rims.

It was pretty damp outside, but I was riding rocky trails. I reckon I'm just a bit insensitive to small differences.
Don't know about spoke tension ,the (well regarded) lbs built them for me. They did say that they built up very easily though.

In what way are they tubeless compatible? You still need a rim strip, right?

How do you know what stiffer wheels feel like? Things like frame/fork/stem/bars/hubs etc can all give flex and disguise the wheels. Also they might just be flexi and the reviews are bobbins

Is the spoke tension in the new wheels high enough? If it's lower than your previous wheels it might be compensating for the stiffer rim. I'm surprised you didn't notice a decrease in weight of 240g though - that's almost 0.3% less system weight.

I'm running them tubeless with a stans downhill rim strip.

I didn't say they're less stiff than the old rims, just that they felt pretty similar in all respects really.

Like I say , theyre decent rims, they weigh 120 grams less than the old rims( that's uindisputable) , but feel comparable to me in terms of stiffness, so that's a win all round. Whether you can feel the difference ,well that's down to you and is subjective.
