I'd sooner spend the cash on a mega tour somewhere than on another bike. That said, if a medium/large Salsa Fargo appeared on the classifieds I'd be tempted to transfer the bits over from my On One TiCX for some longer off road tours, maybe even the Great Divide.

Time to replace my sold road rat, been missing it this year. Rosebikes cx disc looks a likely contender. New wheels for the 29r.

Just purchased a cheap Fire eye frame off crc and some other bits from classifieds so just wheels/brakes and finishing kit and i'm back on the trails after thieving scum popped in for a brief and unwelcome visit.

I may go 2x10 on my Solaris and I keep thinking I need a full sus bike which in turn will make me go to the Lakes more but in reality we need a new bathroom and I'm a bit pussy whipped at the moment.

First build is a ritchey road logic triple butted steel road bike. But that might start on Thursday this week. I have been on the look out for a cool quality steel frame for a few years, I just don't want carbon, or alloy. So I am really rather excited about this.

And towards the end of January it will be the surly krampus. Great big wheels for crushing anything less significant than led zeppelin

Just need to get out and ride more. Built three bikes this year and they are proving to be a little underused - must justify their existence!! 😉

Ben.... From my shop via the ritchey importer, they called me Friday morning to say they have landed in the uk, knowing I am a sucker for such lovely things, so I pondered for about an hour and went for it. After all it is Christmas, and it's not a whole new bike, so mrs bikemonger may not notice.

More info, and a few quid off here.... http://www.charliethebikemonger.com/ritchey-wcs-road-logic-frameset-3394-p.asp

It's £900 with carbon fork and headset. Right now all sizes are in stock, or will be next week.

I am building it with the American classic wheels, 105, and salsa/ritchey parts off my kona honky. The stem and post are a gloss red, not sure if they will look right on this black frame?

I am going to use it to visit the best cafes within a 60 mile radius, so 100 plus mile days out. I live on the coast so that narrows it down a bit. But that Hugh fermley whittlingstall does some great food in Axminster.

This is the stock picture, but I think the deep section rims are a bit too chunky for the skinny tubes. No doubt wonderful rims, but too tech for me.

I'm happy enough with my MTBs at the minute I think I'm going to be taking as many parts from my current road bike to build up an all seasons disc braked, commuter/tourer/weekend pootler...

I'm aiming to build up a HT again with bits from the shed, hopefully a secondhand Soul.
I've ridden my one MTB lots this year, so feel I deserve to be a two bike man again!
I've been toying with the idea of trading my touring bike in for something with discs and room for bigger tyres.
I like the the Salsa Vaya.

Cotic Soul build for me. Frame is ordered and I've got the fork already (RS Reba RLT Dual Air 120 mm) but the rest yet to buy - I've got the component list together so will go on a spending spree in the New Year. This will be my first build - can't wait......

Damn you Charlie! 40 in 3 months, no present to self decided and of an age where Ritchey=want, do you take credit cards?

Ooh, that Ritchey Logic looks nice!

MODS - I have a request from my bank for you to remove the pictures of said Ritchey road bike. 😐

Return the Dekerf to a rideable state. Retro or everyday theme as yet undecided. Get the fixie 96er together. Retrieve bits pinched from the SS and get that rolling again. Then sell/bin all the leftover parts.

Ben I take cards, you can order it online now.

I like your thinking.. So. I am getting this frame because I forgot to get myself a present for my 40th earlier this yeah. Or did i forget? oh well i have forgotten if I forgot, and that's some sort of double negative which makes it true. Thanks.

Cotic Soul! Already put some miles on it, currently running single speed (38t /17t) until I get fitter (or fed up with walking up really steep stuff), then it's going 2 x 10. Love it. 😀

Ben, don't fall for Charlie's snake-eyed marketing, you know you really want the Seven and the Frame is only £4000 more than the Ritchie 😯 (or you could have the whole bike for just under £10,000...) 😆

As an exercise in restraint, I'll be attempting a pub bike build (and also have a clear out of bits in the process)

psling, What I really want is a stainless steel Ricky Feather but a point comes (at 40) where you can afford what you wanted at 20 and that be a Ritchey 😀

I'm kinda justifying my plans with 2013 heralding my 50th....

It will be a 650b Morewood Zula with a Lefty, sram x-9, slx brakes and much fun riding it 😀

The girlfriend has vetoed any extra bikes so the current commuter is going as I need to build a Track bike, Commuter, TT bike, road bike and fixed CX bike in one, all built around a Dolan Pre Cursa frame and a selection of different forks, wheels, bars and gear ratios.
Going to be a bit of jack of all trades master of none but as long as it's relatively cheap, works well on the track and isn't too uncomfortable on the road I'll be happy.

I may at some point put a suspension fork on the bike, which will come from one of three sources depending on cashflow..

a). pay a tuning company to refurb the old revelation that's currently in service on a very part time basis on mrs yunki's little bike..

b). pick up a nice bolt through Reba or SID from the classifieds

c). treat myself to something new

The Soul is absolutely ace with a carbon fork, but I can't be trusted to ride within it's limitations and it will end in tears eventually

I haven't built a bike since April 2011 and so in usual circumstances I would be thinking about a change but happy with my lot at the moment and can't think of what I would change that would make meaningful advantages (I know that is not the point)
Instead I am going to spend more on going places to ride and uplift days and perhaps some more coaching.

I'll be getting Cy's/Cotic's new "baby" Rocket the second it arrives next year and pimping it as far as i can feasibly afford, which may mean another few months living off a self imposed £25/week allowance for food n' drink.

What is this baby rocket I keep hearing about. Loved the look of the Rocket but what would I use it for, already have enduro/aggro bikes in the house but a shorter travel fast aggro bike built light might tempt.

Cy n' Paul have well developed plans underway to introduce a shorter travel Rocket, a more "UK trail friendly" 120mm to 140mm all day trail conquering machine built out of steel tubing!....sign me up right now.

I don't like plastic bikes nor alloy bikes as they all look like ugly hydroformed/moulded pigs, but that's just my opinion and others may disagree.

Roadbikes drivetrain needs to last 3 more months, then it'll be a re spray, new groupo, and possibly some carbon bit and pieces.

Possibly some wider bars for the Cham.

It's all go here... 🙂

I've taken a leaf from the bike manufacturers and have completed my 2013 build - Today!

Had my Genesis Altitude (which I converted to a singlespeed, last year) powder-coated. It's a bit of a trigger's broom, as I've also sprayed the fork lowers black - to match the frame - then fitted...

* A Shimano LX Hollowtech setup (To replace the Octalink BB & cranks, that finally died)
* An SS specific chain-ring from VeloSolo.
* A new set of Deore brakes (so that I could pass the existing ones on to a bike that my mate uses, upgrading him from cable to hydraulic)
* New SS spacers on the freewheel, to give better chain line tweaking options.
* A new seat-clamp that will hopefully slip less that the old one.
* SuperStar grips, as the old ones had just about worn down to nothing.
* A new headset, as the old one had seen better days.
* Custom decals for the frame & forks.

The chain-ring, freewheel spacers, grips, seat-clamp, headset and decals are all gold which, against the plain black of the rest of the bike, gives a bit of a JPS look.

It's too dark to take pictures right now, but I may post some tomorrow.

It may not be to everybody's taste, but it's my treat to myself, to celebrate the fact that I turned 50 this year and am still enjoying mucking about on bikes.

Went for a quick spin down the hill to the shops and back - super smooth and stealth fighter silent - can't wait to get out on the trails 🙂

Thats a shame really because a plastic one would be pretty cool

There's a few trees down in the local woods that I'd like to do something about and some drainage issues that I could maybe make a bit better.. And if I get all that done there's a wood that would be perfect for a trail.

At some point I'll be getting a 29er HT to run rigid and SS. I'll move the bits over from my Inbred and either get some Superstar/Stans wheels or rebuild the existing hubs with new rims. Need to find some cash and then decide between Inbred, Scandal, Swift, Fortitude and Mariachi. I'm in no rush but I'd like to have it for Charlie's bash in May.

Mainly my fitness, as nearly 2 years of intermittent (at best) riding has left me out of shape and very overweight.

Also, some wheels (road, MTB and CX). And a pompino, though I can see that taking some time.

Some new stuff for my road bike. Bars, stem, saddle, wheels and tyres!

New mtb too. Not sure what at present. Swinging between a short travel full suss and a long travel ht. wheelsize will definitely be 650b though.

No new bikes, got 7 and not riding enough, though I might get a new commuter that fits better.

More likely some new running shoes.
