..... will the new 10 speed mtb cassettes fit ?

just out of interest, but presumably you could run a compact and have a 34 front / 36 rear gear which I would have thought would be okay for loaded touring, and negate any need for a triple.

guess you'd need a long cage rear mech though?

An mtb mech as the largest sprocket a road long arm mech can cope with is 27t.

Unless you're on SRAM in which case you can get an Apex rear mech which allows up to 32t to be used.

Dunno 'bout that. I'm running 20 front 34 rear on a standard XT mech...
