Just over the 18000mile mark for me. Twas a good year on the bike.
Really poor year for me 1400 ish ..... 😳
worst year ever ... hoping to change that this year !
18000 miles? how many of those were off road?
around a third.
did you have time to do anything else but ride in 2009?
Yip loads.
Holey shoooot thats alot of miles! Fair play.
do you have a job?
For 8 months of that I was working. For the rest of the time I was commuting 70 miles each way - that got in the way of biking a bit.
100 miles a day at the weekend and 40 miles/night - its not that much really.
chapeau, that's a monster year!
so between working and being on singletrack forum alot! you have done all them miles? your real name must be superman or billy! 😉
1824.1
if i'm being honest, definitely not enough.
making up for it now though. got some tough(for me) goals for 2010 and i plan on achieving them
nothing like enough miles (probably around 800-1000,but have suffered with depression so that is partly the reason.) have just got a new 2010 stumpy fsr comp bike though,so my new years resolution is to ride loads.unfortunately my nose is running like a tap today, but will keep to my resolution when it stops running. 🙂
his name is george and he is talking pish................ 😉
i have averaged 100 miles a week, 60 of which is to work and back.
so 5200ish.
Ton - you are correct on one point - my name.
18000.do you actualy have a life out of the saddle.
ocd springs to mind.
george, you are taking the pish tho surely...
i do not believe you rode that far last year... ❓
Ton - seriously. Couple of hundred miles every weekend and 40 odd per night - sometimes a lot more. I was training for something. 40 odd miles on the roadie is about 90-120mins at most.
listen jud whats the point of coming on here and chatting bullshit!
actualy a bloody good idea.
seeing as all the oil will soon be gone.
so might as well get super fit now. 💡
In 2009 I did:
7062 km of exercise (4388 miles)
of which:
4957 km was on the bike
1326 km on unicycles
680 km walking in hills / mountains
97 km running
I also swam outdoors in a total of 18 different places in 3 different countries (UK, Italy and the USA), but I haven't tracked distance for that, as it makes no sense as a measure with the currents that you get in a lot of the places I swum. Oh and I seem to remember I've swum maybe 4 or 5 times in indoor pools this year too.
Joe (how nerdy is it that I have a record of all this?)
Davo - I'll repost that post too if you want me to. You don't know me so what makes you think that you know more about my riding habits than I do?
davo you from cas way per chance , jud lol 😉
is,nt someone giong to beat that.there must be some more b####hiters out there.. 😆
I know of at least 4 who have done more miles that I have.
I'd guess about 1k on the mtb, and 7k on the moto 8)
hey jud you must eat, sleep on that bike of your with all the miles you say you have done! yes mick im from yorkshire too 😆
i didnt even travel that far including holidays 😉
what.you know 4 more b####hiters.
It would appear that my new username is bang on the money here.
why have you got a new username? what was the old one? did you get banned for bullshiting?
Just under 3000, but this year I hope for 10,000 just in recreational and training rides.
What event were you training for; the TDF. 40 miles in 90 min that's in excess of 26mph average. Impressive! I did 2500 miles.
From my Garmin Connect account:-
Count: 102 Activities
Distance: 1,830.21 mi
Time: 217:56:23 h:m:s
Elevation Gain: 206,610 ft
Avg Speed: 8.4 mph
Avg HR: 134 bpm
Avg Bike Cadence: 64 rpm
Calories: 135,109 C
Max HR: 197 bpm
Avg Elevation Gain: 2,026 ft
about 75% off-road, I'm feeling pretty disappointed and will be trying much harder this year. 🙁
2104.8 miles in 179.8 hours. Lost a month thou torn ligaments in May.
40 miles in 90 min that's in excess of 26mph average. Impressive!
Impressive in the lying/trolling/bull****ting stakes as per usual...
Depends on the tailwind and whether riding in a group or not surely. At the other end of the scale 2hrs for 40 miles is easy btw.
No idea. Didn't keep a log for the first time in 2009. Just went out and rode with my friends as often as I could/wanted to and rode to work quite a lot until it went all dark and cold. Someone, far wiser than me once said, "it's about the smiles, not the miles"
On the upside, as fit as I've been in a long time. Riding here and with people considerably better/fitter than me has made a huge difference. I just didn't feel the urge to write it down 🙂
your the best george! no ones done more than you kid! your my hero 😆
Davo - Are you jealous or something? You seem to have a problem with me - I'd suggest looking at yourself first.
Do you commute in a peleton? 26.7mph is still impressive in a group in my opinion.
george i have no problem with you mate, in fact i think i love you and want to have your babys. your the best jud! seriously george i think you will think twice before you post next time! how many miles have you done today? 😉 ps where did you get your laptop mount for your bike?
Why would I need to think twice? Just because YOU couldnt fit it into YOUR life doesnt mean that I cant fit it into MY life. Brilliant riding from the door makes it easier.
Today I have done 30 miles on the bike. You?
Thats 20 mile short of the 50 mile daily target to beat last years total! What was the event you were training for?
today i have been at work and you have helped me pass the time very well. its been fun at 49 quid a hour 😆
Dasha - the ride I'm training for is in September this year. LEJOG in as short a time as possible.
He is quite simply bulls hitting.
How can he possibly have spent so long cycling when he's clearly on here talking cobblers every waking hour. Those hours when he isn't taking cobblers, he's thinking of another stupid name for himself, to enable him to be taken seriously for another 30 seconds before he starts being an arris again...
LEJOG in as short a time as possible.
Surely 4 hours should have it covered by a rider of your, ahem, calibre...
You'll do it in a couple of days no problem.
Dasha - that's the kind of ballpark we're looking at.
Well that would appear to have killed that one stone dead... 🙄
You'll piss it, 1100 miles 48hrs thats only 23mph.
it's 850 miles.
Funny Goan.
3,850 miles on the Garmin, plus 25 or so 25 mile xc races, plus 2 24s, E6 and D2D and a few rides I forgot the Garmin on...
Probably about 5,000 total.
GB
Just noticed on another thread that the 'poster' lives in Walkerburn...
Jesus that is one miserable hole - no wonder he's never there!
what a quim. that is all.
Tonight Mathew i'am going to be-Bert from the Muppets!
As food for thought a full time pro cyclist will cover in the region of 20000 to 25000 miles per year training and racing.
I think his miles are a little shorter than most of ours. Remember he has also driven a million miles in a few years at the ridiculous average that he has - and all without breaking the speedlimits.
Glupton - you do talk some utter tripe and thats another one.
Milage for me - dunno 🙂 between 2500 and 5000 at a guess - few weeks of less than 50 miles but few of more than 100
Only 18mph then, none stop for 48hrs. Who sponsors you, you're obviously an extremely talented athlete, has Mr Brailsford been in touch!? 😯
2600 on the bike and less than a 1000 with the car.
Dasha - to answer your question about sponsorship - Adidas.
Prob somewhere between 4k-5k, some of which has been ridden with the artist formerly known as Glupton 😉
Judging by this thread plus previous posts on the mileage you drive I'm assuming you have some kind of condition that multiplies everything by 10.
So, I guess you'll be telling us next its 30 inches 😆
Excellent. What races did you do for them last year. Do you ride in a team. Where is your homepage
Dasha - none. THere are various types of sponsorship. No and I don't have a homepage. Having family in very high places in a company has great benefits.
when i was a student i did about 10k a year ...
this year ive done about 5-6k through injury and giardia.
some with glupton though - 300km in 13 hours with 4000m climbing and 200k in 8.5
6502 miles on the garmin, must have had the "summer" off, thats 1500 down on the previous year!
surrounded by idiots you are starting to appear to be the new kaesae! all you need is a great line in rodent based insults and you are sorted. 😀
but seriously don't listen to the naysayers, I say good on ya and well done you're very special.
Thats seems like a real waste of talent, can't you get these highly placed company people at (presumably Adidas) to create a team built around you, it could be called "Team Mendacity"
Prob about 3500 miles & something like 300,000 ft of vertical. I cant compete with the OP 🙁
I'm not sure what I did this year - less then previous years no doubt, but I went about 6 months without a cycle computer so can't really estimate. Lost a bit of weight due to becoming more or less veggie and doing more running though.
Goan - with that sort of mileage in the legs you and your partner really should have beaten me and stuatie_c at 10 More in Moray and grabbed the glory of 4th spot..... 😆
S_F - that sort of mileage makes a diesel engine - at moray i needed a turbo petrol.
Hat's off, fella. Pretty sure Pro's don't notch up those kinda distances or speeds. Or even need to. You are clearly self-employed with no family commitments.
8,648 road-miles for me this year. And that doesn't include racing or anything off-road. Can't imagine where I could have fitted in more cycling without giving up my job or suddenly becoming single.
Chapeau.
