A short video of the Ranger Path, accompanied by the Beach Boys:

The camera is worn by a friend with a few faster friends in front.
Shame he didn't tie back the strap from his bag!

Lovely- must do that route next time I get up there...

Why's he doing the weird slappy thing? Makes him look like a drumming monkey....

What's the camera? Very wide angle!

Good vid, shame about the strap but still very watchable. You never see anyone riding the very last nadgery singletrack rocky bit on vid though, makes me feel very smug lol!

Thanks for you comments, guys.
The camera is a Gopro HD Hero with a Chesty mounty, but run upside down in video inversion mode.
We left Llanberis at 6am when it was dark and reached the summit at about 8. Because we were so early, we didn't encounter any walkers on the way down, which could have been pretty dangerous I guess!

The rider swinging his arms about was trying to warm up because we were so cold. He was a downhill enduro rider for Sunn last year and it was pretty entertaining following him down!

Have you chopped the order about? Seem to be at the bottom one minute and the next cut you're back at the top?!

Also, is the summit ever not in cloud?!

Can i share mine? Stick with it - we do the ranger path coming down after the slog up.

It was July. Weather forecast: sunny.

I was going to say the same as ourkidsam - the editing's a bit random which seems a shame.

Also, I was looking forward to seeing them ride the nadgery bit of technical singletrack above the lake - took us a bit of scoping before we cleaned it but it was the best bit (imho)

edit - don't mean to be over critical mind - it's a great bit of footage and makes me want to ride it again ๐Ÿ™‚ . Did you go up & down or do the Llanberis, Rangers, Telegraph loop?

You're right - The order of the descent is all over the place! I was trying to make a video that was interesting rather than just 3 minutes of helmetcam footage (if you get what I mean). However, I get what you're saying - it would have had more of a storyline if it was in order!
I think we went up the Llanberis path and down Ranger / Telegraph back to Llanberis which seemed long enough for us. Then we went to Penmachno in the afternoon.

Not sure which bit the technical bit was, but it might be in the unedited footage somewhere. I'll have to have a look.

I like your sunny weather, Pook.

milkherd - Fair comment. To be fair, it does flow quite well considering and I guess if you hadn't ridden it, you wouldn't notice ๐Ÿ™‚

The bit I was talking about was the bit after the switchbacks, above the small lake. It's a run of rocky drops & probably the most technical bit - my favourite section anyway.

Muchos respect to anyone who clears that descent.

Rode about 95% of it on my Superlight (had to walk a small section at the top and the drops by the lake). Think it would be much more fun on a something with a bit more travel (and a slacker head angle!)

Definitely a top day out though.

Is the consensus that the Ranger Path is the most fun to ride down?

Creaser - always fancied having a go at that on my big bike. Must have been a pain in the backside to push up though?

Love the differences in the way people have to ride the rangers path, can see where some are picking a line then along comes creaser on his 224 and nothing stands in his way, just flattens everything, need to go and have a go ๐Ÿ˜€

cheers really enjoyed it
yeah was a right pain of a push nearly 3 hours, 1/2 hour rest at the top, not a cloud in the sky you could see half of wales then 6ish minutes down to the flat section the best descent in this country in my opinion, not done anything as rough in the alps
well worth going if you've never been

This thread makes me really want to go back and ride the rangers again. I love that descent (one of those videos up there is mine). I'd be happy just clearing it properly once, Creaser's run is on another level, hats off fella.

Thinking about doing the llanberis, rangers path and telegraph track loop in the spring, how long should it take?

I don't get the chopping and changing either
As far as I can see you have:
the start, in the middle
the start of ranger proper, near the end
the start of the end (telegraph valley), near the start
the end, in the middle
and everything else here there and everywhere?
