I'm guessing Helvelyn summit is out for bikes, but what about riding Sticks Pass down to Glenridding? Also, that one whose name I always forget - goes from the slate quarry above Honister Visitor Centre right down to Buttermere (mint long rocky trail with a couple of tricky bits and one right-hand bend halfway down). Also the one from Watenlath to Rossthwaite. Can anyone give me the latest on snow and where to ride? Thanks.
Bump
Doesn't look too bad: http://www.webcams.travel/webcam/1219739537-Weather-Glenridding,-Cumbria-Glenridding
I'm in Borrowdale at the moment. The road to Honister runs by the hotel door. Glorious sunshine. Was up Honister yesterday and all was clear
You're talking about warnscale from honister and it's clear. Sticks has snow higher up and it will now be soft and horrible, but patchy.More or less clear to 2,500ft and mostly patchy above. I'd avoid helvellyn, high st or skiddaw at the moment. Lovely on the beach at maryport this arvo.
EDIT worth staying away from melting snow for the socal style dusty trails elsewhere
Cheers boxelder - good news. Warnscale is the one, I'll do it Saturday.
Hello wl,
I'm heading over to the Lakes on Saturday. My normal bike buddies are working this weekend do would you mind if I tag along? Higher the better for me mate......
So not do!!! :))))
I walked up Hellvelyn yesterday via Kepple Cove and down Swirral. I still wouldn't bother with biking up there personally. Still a lot of snow especially on paths.
Everywhere else looked reasonably clear of snow though and it was thawing quite rapidly.
