Youngest 2 gnusmases are in need of next size up bikes, or will be within the next couple of months. Looking for suggestions for these (or if anyone has anything at a reasonable price).

Liberty is currently on a 24" wheel hotrock with a 12" frame. She will be going to a 14/15" frame (26 or 27.5), so will need either a complete bike or a frame to build up and sort the remainder of the parts as and when.

Shelby is currently on a 16" wheel ridgeback and I'm looking to get him a 20" wheel bike. He's still quite small but seems to be reaching the limit of this bike pretty quickly.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Wild Bikes, Squish, Wiggins are all reasonable lightish aluminum framed kids bikes. The Wiggins is no longer sold by Halfords so often reasonable second hand value.
For the larger bike the 26 inch wheeled squish is worth a look. My lad is on one following a 24 inch wheeled frog. Most small adults bikes were the wrong size for him although his cousin found a bargain (£80) specialized in a village sale which fits her well.
Link below to cycle sprog page which looks at some better value kids bikes. Definitely worth keeping an eye on second hand. I bought the Squish nearly new for £200 locally after seeing it on ebay. You occasionally even see decent Isla bikes advertised for less than £100 which you would make back plus interest when you're kids move on.
Hope you get some great rides in with the kids. Going the 3 miles to the park in the next town here is an adventure that money still love. Epic doesn't always win 🙂

Thanks for that, really appreciate it. I'll have a look at those suggestions and a read of the article too

My kids went from 20" Isla Beinn 20s to Orbea MX24 as I couldn't justify the additional cost of Islas any more, and most brands seem to do half decent kids bikes these days. The Orbeas were great (and are available in 20) but, potentially more important, our local bike shop stock them so they could actually go and choose their bike then ride it home. At that age there is a lot to be said about riding your chosen bike home from the shop (remember that feeling?!).

Last year they outgrew the Orbeas. I was originally looking for 26ers for them but choice was limited both new and second hand. We went to another LBS and they sat on a few, ended up with new 27.5 Rockhoppers (thank you cycle to work scheme!). They were 10 and 11 at the time and we got small frames, XS were available but S was fine for them.

I have an XS specialized myka women's bike. Has older stuff on it (bomber mxc, deore/Mavic F519 26er wheels, Shimano disc brakes) but all servicable. Think it may need a new front shifter.

Not really worth anything so you're welcome to have it for whatever it costs to ship. However am aware that kids like new stuff so won't be upset if you don't want it 😀

@jeffl wow, if you're sure that would be amazing. Ironically that's the sort of thing I've already been looking at. I'm happy to pay something towards it as well as shipping costs though. If its easier to discuss, my email is hoodahell At hotmail Dot co Dot uk

Thankyou again for your kind offer, I genuinely appreciate it

NP. I'll take some pictures of it, and send them to you, to ensure it fits the bill. Probably won't be until tomorrow though.

I have a 20" hotrock that's been sat in the shed for a while as my daughter grew out of it
It's rather old now as it's been through all 4 of my kids(think it's about 10 years old).
Might only be 99% complete but happy to donate it for the cost of postage if its any good?

And I’ve probably got the bits you might need to complete them! Let me know and stick them in the post.

I was contacted via email by a STWer saying they had a 20" wheel bike I could have and asked for my address to send it. To my surprise this was followed up by a tracking number and delivery date of tomorrow! Really wasn't expecting anything that quick when he said about it lol

@transporter13 really appreciate the offer, thankyou very much. I do know of someone in need of that size bike too though, my girlfriends daughter ironically. If your very kind offer still stands, I would be extremely grateful and can sort both kids out between the 2 bikes.

@wheelsonfire1 I'll send you a message if that's OK? Again, I really appreciate the offers and help you've made regarding parts for the bikes.
