We're on Skye thurs-sun with our bikes and two little ones in and their bike trailer. The weather is great and forecast to stay dry, looking for some nice rides to do. Is the classic ride rideable with the trailer, our threshold of doable rides is fairly high. Are there rock garden sections/river crossings etc that would make this a bad idea?
You will be fine it's canal tow path quality, a fully loaded ridged singlespeed with trailer no probs! ๐
how are your water-bar bunny hopping with trailer & two weans skills ? ๐ ๐
Avoid.
By rock garden section I presume you mean the entire lochside stretch.
Not a hope in hell!

Perhaps it's been made a lot more accessible since last I was there? Or there are two Sligachan trails.
Just ride to Glen Brittle on the road stopping off at the Fairy Pools thats what I did with a trailer in tow Sligachan trail is silly with a trailer never mind with a child in it

I found the whole thing thoroughly unpleasant without any sort of trailer in tow. It would have been less relentlessly, soul destroyingly bone jarring if I wasnt on a hard tail I suppose. But my main issue with it was how flat it was. I could see big mountains all the time but always from the bottom
Nope!
Blurghh. Poor child and poor you! Stick to the quiet roads and enjoying the scenery.
I wouldn't do that. Its not the longest or most technical ride i've done and the scenery is great but its an easy ride to underestimat. Ive had to turn back before the end twice cos I left too late and it was taking longer than I thought. And there are rocky sections, and a river.
Just no way - most of the path is made up of grapefruit sized boulders - it really is a boneshaker, and yes, there are some stream crossings which depending on the weather, might be nigh on impossible with a child in tow. Carbost up to Glen Brittle Forest is a bit of a climb but the tracks in the forest are all fine for a trailer and as above, you can pop out at the start of the path to The Fairy Pools - I did this, then headed North East over the Bealach a Mhaim, dropping down into Slig (rough track but would be just about OK if you took your time. Then it's a bit of a road bash back to Carbost. Good day out and some cracking views ๐
This is pretty typical of the Slig loop - there is a decent path but it's hard going...

And this is the path from The Fairy Pools, over Bealach a Mhaim, down to Sligichan. It's been a while but I seem to remember it's not all this smooth...

Fairy Pools are above the handlebars, Sligichan off down the hill to the left....
