Given that the stock finned pads that came with my Spectral at xmas 2014 are still going (including Dave using the bike at this years puffer!) I'm beginning to come round to paying the big S premium Iain.

Have not had any problems with the resin SLX/Alfine pads although they have recently increased in price to £7.49 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-slx-alfine-g01s-disc-brake-pads/rp-prod92721

Buy the non-finned metal pads, work just as well and don't trap mud.

leegee, Rahox ftw! They are so good, I´m really surprised that they aren´t more popular to be honest. I think that they´ve just priced themselves at a difficult point, between the cheap ones and the manufacturers ones. Because they are 3rd party people lump them in with the cheap ones but the performance is way better and for many brakes it´s a good bit better than the manufacturers. They´re all I use.

Bike-Discount F03C Metal Finned Pads £14.34 a pair.

I tried the finned organic ones and they were wiped out on the rear in one wet uplift day. The front ones are still going since August though.

I generally get between 500 and 1000 miles from a pair of genuine Shimano pads. I've given up on the SuperStar ones but still have two sets of metal to use up so I'll have to run them at some point and suffer the piggy noises.

You get what you pay for. It's really true with brake pads though.

Genuine finned organic front / metal rear has worked well for me.
